In case you guys have been wondering what's the latest on yours truly, I left my position with the Safran group (I had briefly rejoined) to pursue another opportunity as a software developer at CAMufacturing Solutions. I still maintain and develop all the content I created for Thee Byte and still have a small Team.

I work from home now, which I like a lot more than being at an office every day. It's great to have time to go out and have a long lunch at a restaurant or a picnic and go walk when I want.

Sounds great!

It definitely requires more self-discipline to manage your own work hours, but as long as your work is getting done it must be nice to not be tied to the clock all day.

I'm not sure how I would like working from home. I enjoy the social aspect of going in and seeing people. I also like the separation of work and home life. When I punch out and leave work most of the time I leave it all behind.

I love working from home
I spent about 6 months during the pandemic working at home and it was very hard to go back

I like to work from home myself. When I do, I get more done. No interruptions from anyone. I can do what I need to do and it seems that I get double the work done.

It's brutal to go back, I really didn't like it, especially the commute part..

Brutal??? Im about to change your nickname to Trudy. ;D

I'm still at the same place for the last three years, No Masks and the fucking Boss still demands I produce,
I say "Can I work remote"? and He says Yea "On Unemployment you can remote all you want"

I also drive a Grueling 2 miles to and from work. I have to drive past at least two homeless people. (Both under the bridges) I'm considering hitting one of them and taking his spot..Prolly a raise in my income, and I can hit on the college girls as they drive past.

"Oh look at that poor old man"

"Hey Ladies want to Kiss an Elephant on the nose"??

Then I pull my Pockets out.!!! :P

Sorry couldn't resist. I'm glad you are back. Your sense of Humor was missed.

Luckily about a year and a half ago I took a job just 4 miles from home. A bad commute is about 10-12 minutes. Good one around 7.

How long are all y'all planning to wait to retire, or never?

I'll be 62 in February. We bought my parents house just under 2 years ago. Did new roof, gutters, furnace and one bathroom. New kitchen starts in a week or two. After that one more small bathroom to do. Doing the kitchen for cash so no loans. Soon as the last big project is done I plan on trying to reduce my hours to just enough to keep my benefits. By 65 I'm done. Being debt free is the key.

Well going on 30+ years of working from home in some shape form or fashion. Last 10 years have been home when not working onsite with a customer. I have my stand up desk I need to use more than I do right in the middle of the upstairs loft. My office has always been where the family can come hang out while I work. I am an early riser so 5am I am normally moving. The rest of the house anywhere from 6am getting ready for school to 11am. I normally go till 5pm-7pm during the week. I stop and have breakfast and lunch with my wife and whatever else needs to be done with the family. If I work on Saturday I try to limit that to no more than 10 hours, but still take my time to do family things. Working as an employee of a company doing what I do most require you to be in the shop not remote. Many customers still can't believe I can support them as well as I do never even being in their shop, but I can. Discipline is not easy and focusing on the tasks before you can be overwhelming sometimes, but some how I manage to get everything I need to do done.
