Every plumbing job I have ever done on my house always takes a minimum 3 trips to Lowes. I absolutely hate doing plumbing, it puts me in a bad mood. But I'm cheap and refuse to pay somebody what I can do myself.
I have replaced faucets, water supply valves, toilets and a bathtub for 4 baths and a kitchen in my current house. There is nothing like getting on your back under your sink and try to replace a kitchen faucet. :realmad:

But if I had a Sugar Tits to help.............

I replaced a faucet in a bathroom. It had no shut off valves, so I added them. After I did that, before I hooked the faucet up, I went downstairs to turn the water back on. (it was superbowl sunday so I was taking my time.) I realized when I went upstairs that, instead of having the valves securely closed, I had left them wide open. I could tell from the sound of rushing water and the river coming out of the bathroom.

So not a Guru

Quote from: marshal on May 27, 2022, 09:33 AMEvery faucet in my house has it's own individual shutoff.  I assumed that was standard.  There should be no reason to turn the water off to the entire building to replace any faucet parts.
Even your shower & tub taps? That would be very unusual.

It's not as unusual as I thought.

If I had more time and a little more money to spend, I would have mine replaced with fixtures that have shutoff valves.  There are just two screws that shut of the hot and cold water that allow you to replace (in my case) the cartridges without having to turn the water off the the entire building.

I think that the only person on the forum who's ever met one of my g/f's in person is Colin.  I'm not sure that he would even remember. That was back in about 2009ish.
