I watched all eight episodes of "Night Sky" on Amazon Prime. A sci-fi/mystery with Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons. Both really good actors in this. The pacing of the story can be a little slow and boring at times, but I still enjoyed the premise of the show. My biggest complaint is some of the characters speak Spanish and your forced to read subtitles (yea I'm lazy). The season ends with a necessary season 2 to answerer all the questions.

I give it 3.875 out of 5 stars.

Just started watching that last night. it's pretty good. I heard that Ed O'neil was supposed to play JK Simmon's part but had to leave the show before prodution got started. I like JK Simmons better.

Meh wifey was supposed to renew our Amazon Prime this week.
If she did, I will probably watch that over the weekend.

Watching "Alone" Season 9.  This is the first season where they can kill black bears. should be interesting.

I caught the first episode of 'Night Sky' last night.

Yeah, kinda slow developing in the middle, but a cool premise for a story.

I will definitely watch the rest.

I didn't have high hopes for this one, but it's pretty good.
We're about half way through it.

Watching Bosch Legacy and Reacher. Well written, compelling, thought provoking and entertaining.

Quote from: pmartin on May 26, 2022, 04:41 AMI watched House for a while. I liked the acerbic wit of Hugh Laurie but as the show progressed I noticed a trend that frankly got under my skin. So many of the diseases turned out to be linked to life choice issues, like drug use for an example.
That is a reality though. Poor nutrition/poor diet, poor posture, lack of exercise, drug/alcohol use/abuse, etc... ALL contribute massively to ailments. Obviously environment and occupation can play a significant role as well, and hey, let's not discount family medical history/genetics, but by and large our health is a direct result of our life choices.

It's weird for me because I have read all of the Bosch books, and all of the Reacher books, but after a few episodes neither tv series has interested me.

Maybe it's just that the books are so good I have high expectations for the tv shows, and they just don't live up.

Usually that is the case. The books are so much richer and for the most part are unconstrained. An episode needs to be in that 47-52 minute range which poses some hefty challenges for the screenwriters working on the adaptations.

I'm interested to see what happens with the Terminal List series.

It's simply better to watch the series first and then get the book. That way you get to enjoy both experiences.

I'm the exact opposite.  I've read (Audio book) all the Bosch and Reacher books as well as most of the Bosch spin off books.  While I will agree the TV Series modifies and abbreviates for a TV audience, especially in the Bosch books, I thoroughly enjoyed both series and watched Bosch legacy as well.  I'm looking forward to seeing where each series goes.  I really liked the actor they got for Reacher.  I think he got Reacher's wit and humor down to a tee.  I saw in an interview that he actually read the entire series of books when he found he got the part to get the feel for the character.  I also saw in an interview with Lee Child that the actor Amazon cast had his blessing.

I made it through the season of Outer Range this weekend. it was not easy. we watched a few episodes and gave up on it about a month ago. Somebody told there was a pretty good plot twist, so we gave it a second chance. But there are some parts of that show that are so dumb, it's hard to watch.

On that we agree.
Tom Cruise is just a giant d00shbag IMO, who only tried to build up his massive ego even further by trying to play Jack Reacher in the movies.
Could be the worst casting job in the entire history of Hollywood.

Someone likened it to casting Danny DeVito as 'Superman', to which I wholeheartedly agree would be just as hilarious!

The lead actor in the Reacher tv series is 10x better in that role than Cruise could ever be on his best day.
