File Explorer keeps switching from Date Modified to Date whenever I come into the office every morning.
I keep my computer running all the time.

Why the hell does it do this to me?

What version of windows are you using, Jeff?

Windows 10.
Latest update AFAIK.
It only started a couple of months ago so it is most likely related to an update.

LOL!
Those memes were directed towards someone else. Someone who's time is more valuable than ours since he stopped working for CNC Software.
He didn't give a shit that we were taking our valuable time to debug the clusterfuck toolpaths that he was working on. And if he actually did his job we wouldn't have to ask so many questions on the forum.

Welp, that didn't last long as "Date" has once again replaced "Date Modified" overnight.

So, I rescind my thank yous!   lol

Jeff

Just an update on this if in case anyone else has this issue:
I was able to get this resolved by asking ChatGTP of all places.

Deleting 2 folders in my registry did the trick.
It did, however reset my desktop icons that I had spread over 2 monitors but that was quickly changed back to how I like it.

3. Modify Advanced System Settings in the Registry
If Windows is still switching views, you can try forcing it to retain the view settings through deeper registry edits.

Open Registry Editor (regedit) again.
Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams
Right-click the Streams folder and delete it. This will clear the cache for folder views.

Also, navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
Delete the Bags key. This will reset all folder view settings.

After deleting these keys, restart your computer, reapply your Details view preference, and try searching again.

What do you mean top of the screen?

Click on a folder in the middle of the screen and it jumps to the tippy top of the window occasionally.
So I guess it's when there are loads of subfolders in that folder it pushes everything up....which is annoying

I don't think I've ever encountered that issue, thankfully.

I assume it doesn't have anything to do with sorting by Date Modified?
