my dealer has a maintenance charge and a support charge bundles together
for years they didn't charge me the support fee because I never called for support.
After reviewing my invoices this weekend it looks like maintenance costs have just
about doubled since it was introduced back in the day

Indeed. Mastercam maintenance used to be quite reasonable, but they have hiked considerably, like a lot of other companies.

Our reseller never provided a support contract, but I guess he made up for it in other ways LOL
