To reiterate - I don't think that Japan is a great example to use.  That's all I'm saying.

so you're gonna give up, just when you were winning?!?!?

MKD, I'm never winning.  And I don't want to win. Unless there is a takeaway from the conversation.  If I learn something then I've won.

eh?  Liberalism?  Are you sure that you know what 'liberalism' is?

The rate of firearm homicides is 100% irrelevant.  It's the rate of homicides that matters.

If someone is murdered, the kind of tool doesn't matter.  In some countries, they prefer knives, or machetes, or fire.

Overall, I'd say we're not doing too bad:

https://www.who.int/data/gho/data/indicators/indicator-details/GHO/estimates-of-rates-of-homicides-per-100-000-population

https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Violent-crime/Murder-rate-per-million-people

Certainly not in a "Oh my god we're all going to die!" type situation like the gun grabbers would have us believe.

I moved here about six years ago. My girlfriend went to the store a few weeks ago and saw two people threatening each other with guns in the parking lot of our local safeway.  It scared the shit out of her.

Gun crime in my area are up about 30% in the last 3 years.

It's getting pretty bad.  And that's not a gun grabbers stance.

I'm sure that culture plays a big part in the statistics.

I guess I mean not the literal definition but more of what the modern liberal Dem have turned into.

If you hear what a classical liberal believes their side represents, you'll be hard pressed to discern the difference between it and conservatism. seriously, the only difference is big gov't vs small gov't. That is a huge difference. But when liberals vs conservative wax poetically,  it sounds exactly the same.
Joe Rogan or Bill mahr...on liberalism they could  just as well quote ron desantis

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on July 09, 2022, 06:14 PMI think it's  fascinating subject myself. When I was 16 (could be 15) I was less than an inch away from ending my life on train tracks in City of Industry. I jumped out of the way at THE LAST second. Lost a shoe... the train took it.

Honestly I could not even tell you why I wanted to end it that day. I know I was fucked up from all the chemicals I was taking... Weed, Cocaine, PCP, LSD, Opium... I also know it was around the time my parents divorced. It was no surprise but it still fucked me up.

The mind can take you to some DARK places.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on July 09, 2022, 03:37 PMWhen it goes sideways for someone in Japan... they just hare kare. It's kind of an honor thing with them. And in Japan... you just DO NOT break the law there. Unless you like prison. They don't mess around. Public drunkenness here in the US... Celebrated. In Japan... you lose your job AND you get in jail. Good luck finding another job after you get out. NO safety net. Sink or swim. If we had fewer safety nets to save people from their stupidity, the problems woudl take care of themselves more often than not.

Yep, totally agree. Japan has crimerate sorted. I've been to Tokyo. I was amazed to see peoples bicycles parked, unlocked, with their bags still on the carriers. Shops with stereo gear on tables outside, not in cases or anything.
Theft and general crime is very low, as the prisons are tough. They come down hard on crime. Of course, there is still organised crime, just like everywhere else.

I saw a carload of Japanese Police pull over a speeding motorist on their freeway while I was there. Not sure if the driver was wanted on something else, but they had him hauled out of the car pronto and on the deck.

Well... I know I would not be where I'm at today without adversity in my life... kind of like the poem says;

Strong men create good times,
Good times create weak men,
Weak men create hard times.

Quote from: YoDoug on July 09, 2022, 07:24 PMTruthfully, the same tactics the white nationalists of today and Nazi's of WW2 Germany use to gain mental control is the playbook the Dems are currently running.
The Dems PsyOps program is VERY effective. Truth be told, they actually have a long game, and they've been playing it since the 50's. The Republicans (bless their hearts) think they can win over hearts and minds with logic. F'n morons.... Dems are doing EVERYTHING in the Rules For Radicals book... to the letter.

The Dems are banking that they can run some more false flag ops and get guns outlawed and that people will acquiesce. That is their error. It will be their blood running in the streets for the most part when Civil War goes full tilt.
