What I care about is the following that happened under Trump.

Lower gas and utility costs
Energy independence
Low unemployment, especially minorities
Higher wages
Lower number of illegal border crossings
Reduce trade deficit with China
MFG jobs being re-shored
Conservative constitutionalist judges appointed

That's just the big ones to start. IF Trump can get us there again I will give him my support, even if I have to put up with his toxic personality. If there is another candidate I think can accomplish those things I would support them.

I'm a Nikki Haley fan. I will have to check out the governor of SD.

I believe the Republican Party needs to nominate a woman.

Yes.

Unlike the Democrats they need to nominate women who are qualified for the job, not simply becauae they're women and check off some kind of box.

Nikki Haley has shown herself multiple times to align with the establishment Republican swamp against conservative values. On the scale of freedom and liberty versus big gov socialism, she falls inline with most RINO's, center left.

I'm with Del. Trump is way too toxic. The first time I didn't vote for him because like I told my wife he's a frickin idiot. He has proved that time and time again. The second time I after watching the Democrats try to overturn an election for four years I had to vote for him. If the best we can do is a Trump or a Biden then it really doesn't matter who you vote for because we are just truly phuked.

Yep. I think we are fucked also.

Which is my biggest concern with the upcoming "anyone but Biden" thinking..we DO need someone else but need to do a better job getting the people there

What made Trump an idiot? The only "idiot" thing I can think of was not clearing out Obama's full staff and bringing in his own. They slow walked almost everything Trump wanted done and he still did more for the people than any other President in my lifetime.

Quote from: JParis on July 26, 2022, 07:23 AMI gotta be honest...this notion of a "good christian" is really crawling up my craw...

Understand, not because of their belief in whatever...they are entitled to their beliefs.

I want someone  making decisions based on what's right. If they arrive at it in part becasue of their belief system, fine...I for one don't like being preached at by preachers, I damn sure don't want politicians preaching at me either...

Conservative Christians probably come close to 'what is right' because their beliefs are based on the same Scriptures as the Founding Fathers who wrote our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Unless you don't believe all of that 'Endowed by their Creator' stuff that Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence?

Would you rather a President like Kristi Noem, who is not afraid to state that she believes, as Jefferson did, that our rights are God-given, and therefore inalienable, or a President like Barak Obama or Joe Biden who believe our rights are granted to us by the government, and can be just as easily revoked by the same?

Those are two diametrically opposed philosophies, and I'm certain I would agree with Noem's POV on almost any topic rather than Obama's or Biden's any day of the week.

Honestly, most Christian politicians aren't going to 'preach at you'.
They will often state what they believe is right, and why they believe that, and since our founding documents are based on Biblical principles, the policies of a Christian politician would most likely align pretty closely with those founding documents.

Sure, we won't agree on EVERYTHING, but when someone starts from the position of 'God, Guns, and Country First', I'm going to hear them out.

Trump just can't shut. He could have been a great President but he shows no empathy, forgiveness or humility. Those are traits a President should have. He also knows absolutely nothing about how government works.

He won't win if he runs, and will disrupt the entire Republican primaries with his ego and mouth.

It's a shame he has not one bit of self control.

If he does run, the people will have to speak louder than the candidates.

I agree that he is toxic and divisive personally, but I also observed that he was leading the country in the right direction.

All we can do is wait and see how the primaries shake out.

If it ends up Trump vs. Hillary II, I will vote for Trump.
If another Republican wins the nomination, there is a very good chance I will vote for that person before anyone the Dems put forward.

Yeah I liked his direction of the country. That's what makes it a shame he can't act better

Right now the stage is being set for the possibility of Republican win in 2024. The general public is not happy with how things are going. There is a very high likelihood a Republican will win in 2024, providing the Dem's don't get to cheat again like in 2020. This is where things get interesting. In smaller state races all over the country there is a trend happening. MAGA republicans are leading by double digit numbers in polls and start off primary days with huge early leads. Then, as we saw in 2020, those leads disappear in late night counting and mysterious electronic voting machine vote count "adjustments". In CO the favored candidate for Sec of State had a huge lead in the polls. Early voting showed a double digit win. Then in late night counting an unknown candidate came from behind to win massively. this candidate had spent less than 1/4 of the money on ads that the leader did. They had minimal trackable interaction on social media. The come from behind candidate, a former exec at Zuckerburgs CTCL election fraud organization. Yes, She ran as a republican.

The Republicans will gain control of the house, possibly senate, and even possibly the WH in 2024. However this will be a RINO packed Swamp republican majority that will lead center left. They will not be as far left as the socialist dems have gone, but nothing that resembles conservative politics. That being said, I fully expect some sneaky, fraud level, shenanigans to try to get a RINO Pence or similar as the nominee. Then they will expect every good little R voter to get in line and vote against the evil Biden or Harris.

The Republican party is dead! They are beholden to most of the same globalist billionaires that the Dems are.

I would say don't count those chickens before they hatch....

yes, it looks bad now....let's not forget the 1st 2 years of Clinton were abysmal....that ushered in the Republicans in the mid-terms, he pivoted on ploicy and wound up being re-elected to a second term...

A lot can happen between now and them
