Got a call from a workshop nearby, who was having trouble with code of of Fusion. When running it on their new lathe, the arcs were concave, instead of convex.

I stopped in and took a look. Edited the programme and replaced the G2's with G3's and vice versa. Programme then worked perfectly.

Anyone else encountered this on a Prototrak control?

Mill on the other hand for reference....never used the AGE as couldn't remember how to use it (it is super powerful).
Because i used dxf input for nearly everything.
But (finally) my point from CAM...in posting a profile with control comp active (which was our default working method), it never liked it.
Graphics would show correctly but as the cutter would arc onto the job, the control would add an additional arc which caused a dig-in (scrap).
I never tried wear comp....just from that day forth used size tools and no comp.
Anything tight (ish) was done outside CAM with it's own cycle where comp worked flawlessly.
Easiest/sweetest control I've ever used.
Edit:- this was SLX/SMX
Only 2 faults... Lathe groove cycle had no peck.
Mill DXF couldn't handle islands (so you have to create 2 dxf files with overlapping geometry and run one then the other (so CAM was used for those type parts). Prolly sorted latest version as that can also import step files 🤷

All I asked was....  ;D

Seriously though. Yes, there seems to be some variation on the control. I've never spent any amount of time on one of these, but it seems to be pretty capable for what these guys want.

The Autodesk guys said "its the machine, the code looks fine". The machine tool supplier said "nope, its the code". The customer tried the code on another older Prototrak lathe and it did the same thing.

Nah, it was the code. Not the first time I've had to troubleshoot a Fusion post LOL

Dumb question
Upper turret post on a lower turret machine?

Er, all the upper turret machines I have ever programmed, have the arcs as programmed for a lower turret. Unless Prototrak are an exeception.

Although I never looked at the Fusion post. Didn't want to go down that rabbit hole.

I laughed because the Autodesk weenies said "everything looks fine to us. It isn't the post" LOL
