Let's hope he doesn't have a dead man's switch on his nukes  :coffee:
otherwise, he can't be dead fast enough to suit me.

Good info, gcode! Learned a lot.

I've seen those reports on the soon-to-be coup bolstered by Putin's terminal condition (advanced stages of leukemia), Newbeeee.

Meh. Bullchit most likely (but you never know).

I read (or was it saw?) some former Russian official saying it isn't so simple and that there are measures taken place much like the U.S., gcode (Russia launching nukes). That even if Putin ordered a nuclear strike (likely a tactical strike in Ukraine), it still doesn't guarantee the order would be carried out.

Russia Routed

QuoteBig developments overnight in Ukraine's counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region, and the only way to describe it is: A rout.

One Russian-held city after another has fallen and Ukraine has recaptured a reported 3,000 square kilometers of occupied territory in the last week, most of it in the last 72 hours.

and on a more somber note

QuoteOne last thought...

Don't get too giddy. A sudden rout can cause even serious minds to ponder the once-unthinkable. There must be serious discussion right now in the Kremlin and in Russia's various field headquarters over whether and how to use tactical nuclear weapons.

They're in the frying pan right now. We might all end up in the fire.

I don't know.

After Afghanistan. Me Thinks a quiet withdrawal and Large Declaration of Victory.

It is no longer The USSR and by appearances not nearly as formidable an opponent as thought.

With the influence of Europe and near every Country in the world Condemning the assault.

A Nuclear strike would Condemn them.

Putin has been squeezing Europe's balls with energy resources and they may be tired of it.

With recent recovery of territory in the Ukraine a full-frontal assault is possible with collective Nations.

Putin's death whether by Coup or sudden Death is Russia's best available option.

While the threat of a tactical nuclear strike increases given Ukraine's recent victories in the east (which was predictable), one silver lining is that they have waited this long. Time needed for the NATO alliance to prepare for a possible nuclear strike. NATO, I'm positive, has gone over various simulations. They have honed in on their weapons systems. They are more prepared now than at any point in history. And...Russia is fully aware of this.

there were a bunch of arrests in Moscow over the weekend as a coup plot was disrupted.
I don't know if it was a real coup attempt or a manufactured show coup as demonstrated by the arrests
and raids on Trump supporters with the corrupt and partisan FBI/DOJ's  attempts to swing the the 2022 midterms

If Russians were smart, they'd put tracking devices on all those abandoned tanks. :-*  8)

That's a common thread on the Twitter coverage of this war
Photo's of Ukrainian troops looking at destroyed Russian hardware with the caption
"Thank God they are so f'ing stupid"

One thing the Ukrainian's are doing is getting hot chicks to flirt with Russian soldiers on Facebook
and other Russian social media sights.
They talk the Russian soldiers into sending them a photo.
The photo is quickly geolocated, checked out with drones and treated to an artillery barrage or GPS guided
rockets.
There is no way to validate the numbers, but estimates are that the Russians have lost just south of
50K men and 3000+ tanks and armored vehicles in 6 months..... an ass kicking of epic and world changing proportions.

Putin, once thought to be one of the smartest cagiest politicians of his generation has allowed his hubris and pride
to set Russia back 30 years

I don't know how to turn that feature off on my phone. Neither do the Russian kids, I guess.

There is speculation that Putin's health is not good.
Yeah, I think if he kicks off or is thrown out, Russia will be the better for it.

I think the only reason his military hasn't turned on him is their fear of his old-school Soviet mentality.

I'm quite sure as former head of the KGB, he has moles in every level of military command, and others scattered all throughout the upper echelons of government.
