The neighborhood I live in is a lower income working class neighborhood
I'd say the population is 70-80% Hispanic.
I belong to a social media web sight called NextDoor where people from my immediate area post
about whatever. It's heavily moderated and even utterly benign political posts will be killed on sight.

The posts are mostly about missing pets and property crimes with a surprising number of failed
home invasions. It think these are mostly mile high druggies trying to break through doors and windows
of homes they didn't know were occupied.

The crimes are mostly stolen work trucks, work trailers, cars, packages stolen off the front porch garages busted open and looted etc etc.
There are frequent surveillance videos of crimes in progress or assholes looking for shit to steal.
There is never any mention of the police. If there is no threat to life and limb or a body on the ground
they are not coming. It's very sad, these are honest hard working people and their government does nothing
to prevent this.

When I lived in Anaheim, I parked in a car port and made a point to own shit cars and not lock the doors.
Otherwise you're replacing a window a couple of times a years.

Now I have a garage and our cars spend the night in the garage always.
To date I've been lucky, no burglaries or home invasions, but I always answer the door with a Colt 1911
handy.

Where I'm living now is WAY better than Anaheim was when we finally sold out and moved
We bought a very nice condo in 1986. By 2005 the neighborhood had gone from nice to minor property
crimes to just plain dangerous.
When I moved to where I am now in 2005, it was very nice, quiet, clean and safe
It's slowing going off the same cliff Anaheim did though. The next time we move we won't land in California
The government in this state has forgotten it's prime directive.

It's in the works... probably within 5 years. Not because of that per se because I've always carried. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. It's just a tool. I carry a Leatherman for the same reasons.  There is criminal activity everywhere on the planet.

We just find the climate no longer makes up for the tyrannical political environment that will persist with NO HOPE of reversing.

However, it is still MN, so we plan on moving south in the next few years. My wife's parents live in Eastern TN so we will probably end up somewhere near them. Although where they live has such a big meth/fentanyl problem that I could see needing a gun handy there. An older couple that went to church with my wife's parents were just killed a couple months ago in a home invasion robbery gone bad.
