I think the vast majority of the US population doesn't even have a basic understanding of the US Tax Code as it relates to businesses and their involved entities as evidenced by when it came out Trump didn't pay any tax for a certain number years. This was due to a very large loss he incurred... witness the shreiking banshees "See... I told you rich people don't pay their fair share.".

Anybody that has or has had a business knows that the government penalizes the hell you/your business for being profitable. So, business owners will often create multiple corporations to serve the primary corporation and the losses for one can be gains  for another. People think this is shady. I say don't hate the player, hate the game. Rest assured, it is FAR easier to literally get away with murder than it is to out run the IRS. Ask Gene Haas and Al Capone.

Quote from: Smit on November 28, 2022, 01:45 PMOh I think there are people who would be better presidents than those guys but two things:

They would never win a hyper partisan primary.

They wouldn't want to even try to lead this country in this toxic political environment.

Yes  Biden has no toxicity in anything he is doing. Gotcha.

Maybe I'm crazy too and that's why I understand Millman's posts. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

We just remodeled our kitchen. Got a notification that the town assessor wants to come in and look at it. We are already paying $7k a year in property taxes but I guess it's not enough. Phukin local, state and federal governments just can't get there hands deep enough into our pockets especially but especially the Democrats. I've already told my wife that we need to seriously consider moving in retirement.

I think you'd be a good fit in Missouri or Oklahoma. Probably some of the southern states too.

Property taxes all over the Midwest will be a lot less than you're paying there.

I live in Missouri. property taxes for a 2000 sq ft home on 30 acres is about 1200. We are remodeling our house now and nobody knows or cares about it, because we don't need permits where I live. Come on out here, we got everything you want and nothing that you don't!

About a 2200-2300 sq/ft home on an acre. When we figure it out between property taxes and income tax let alone all the other taxes it eats up around 12-15 percent of our gross income. When you throw in all the other taxes and fees it's probably around 20. That's all before the federal government takes/steals it's share

How did they know you were remodeling your kitchen? And did you tell them to GTFO as it's none of their business what the inside of your house looks like?

Had a contractor because it was a major renovation. He pulled the permit. The permit tells them what you are doing. I can tell them to go phuk themselves, my very first thought, but then they will do a guestimate and if I think it's too high I loose my ability to appeal. Got you coming and going.
