That's kinda like Trump saying "I cheated on my taxes" ;D

Fully blacked out. Black paint, rims, black leather interior, etc..
The night edition also comes with a 19 speaker Harmon Kardon stereo and the big touch screen display.

What does that come to?  About $1000 a month car payment?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That's becoming the norm...of course it could never happen if the banks didn't allow loans as long as they do but that's another thread...

and people wonder why I keep my cars running...

I cannot wrap my mind around paying that...for me it makes less than zero sense.

Though I'll concede, even though I'm well compensated, we are essentially a one income family....

2008 Lexus ES 350. I paid cash for it about 6 years ago. Hopefully it will last to 250,000 miles like its reputation suggests it will.

I HATE car payments.

Close, if you buy it.
But I leased it, and will probably end up buying it when my lease is up in October.
Sticker was "only" like $65k iirc.

Yup... I've got some major lust going on for an Acura TLS S Type.
It's $63k if you can find one and I'm 68 years old, supposedly an adult planning for retirement.
I can afford it, but buying something like that at this stage of my life makes zero sense.
The freaking sales tax/registration would be more than I paid for most of the cars I've bought in my life.  :flipbird:

I'm the same way.. If my car payment is over $200 a month I start to get anxiety.

Both of my vehicles are about 10 years old and I'll drive them until it doesn't make sense to maintain them anymore.

I've already made a rule for myself. I won't buy another vehicle until my condo is paid off. That should happen some time in the next two years.  That should give me a couple of more years to save for a down payment on what will likely be the last vehicle I ever buy.  I'm guessing that it will be some sort of hybrid.

I sold our old 2007 RX350 to my dad this summer. It was right around 270K.

I was all set to sell it to a buddy for his 16 year old kid but it started leaking coolant from the water pump and scared him away.

I replaced it myself. Any shop I talked to said minimum of $1200 to fix. After doing it, I see why they charge that much. It's a fucking horrible job.

The motor mounts have to be unbolted and the passenger side of the motor jacked up as high as you can get it just to reach the WP. There are 16 bolts holding it to the block. 2 different diameters, and several different lengths. Some you can reach from the top, others from the bottom. Then after you get back together, bleeding all the air from the system is nightmare.

As bad as it was, it's the only major thing I've ever had to do to it.

We don't have any bills but our cars but we don't pay even close to a thousand a month with both combined. One is my 2019 GLI and my wife has a 2020 Tiguan. Both should last well into retirement. Zero percent on the life of the loans so really just paying for the cars in installments.

I had to replace the water pump also but I paid the shop I use to do it. I don't have the tools and know how to do that kind of job. It was about $900 I think but yeah, it sounded like a pretty horrible job for a weekend warrior to attempt.

I look at the water pump as pretty much routine maintenance but I saved enough not making car payments to pay for it and have a lot left over.

Other than the water pump I've had to replace a couple ignition coils. Otherwise it's all good. If it goes another 75k it will likely be the last vehicle I own unless I decide to get a Toyota Tacoma to pull a boat with when I retire.

There's a guy here that has had his ES 350 for at least 8 years. He bought it used but I don't know what year it is.
