Quote from: neurosis on December 08, 2022, 10:37 AM"You can appreciate your body for everything it allows you to experience and still want to change certain things about it," another page adds. "If you haven't gone through puberty yet, the doctor might offer medicine to delay your body's changes, giving you more time to think about your gender identity."

The book tells readers, "If you don't have an adult you trust, there are organizations across the country that can help you. Turn to the resources on page 95 for more information."

That does sound a little advanced for a prepubescent child.

It is COMPLETELY asinine to let a CHILD make these life altering decisions. If it is the "right" decision at 10, 11, 12, etc... years old. Then it will be right when they are an adult and have thought long and hard about the life altering consequences they are about to embark upon. Make no mistake, there WILL be consequences both anticipated AND unanticipated. And once done, they cannot be undone. There's no respawn here. This isn't some video game. Or Tik-Tok clip you can delete and say just kidding. These decisions are for life.

Issuing puberty blockers to a child... a child that 99.999999999999999999% is 100% completely incapable of understanding how the consequences of a decision today WILL affect tomorrow let alone their long term futures.

The "Doctors" that are inflicting this insanity upon children need to have their license to practice medicine revoked. FOR LIFE! And do some jail time too.

So you're upset that the book is telling the reader that a doctor may offer certain medication.  Medication which has a temporary, not permanent effect.  But you don't even want the reader to have access to information about it for fear of... what exactly?

How could you know what the potential long term side affects of puberty blockers are? There hasn't been any conclusive long term studies.

Just in case anyone is interested.

The article is actually about how the University of Washington made misleading claims in their study but it has other good information in it. If you want to cross reference some of it, it has to be translated.

QuoteIn Sweden and Finland, health authorities are sufficiently concerned about the lack of evidence that it's safe and effective to give puberty blockers and hormones to gender dysphoric minors that they have significantly scaled back the administration of these treatments. According to an unofficial translation of Finland's new guidelines, announced in 2020, "puberty suppression treatment may be initiated on a case-by-case basis after careful consideration and appropriate diagnostic examinations if the medical indications for the treatment are present and there are no contraindications." When Sweden followed suit, instituting new restrictions of its own just a month and a half ago, its National Board of Health and Welfare noted that "There are no definite conclusions about the effect and safety of the treatments," per Google Translate. Sweden's move was animated in part by an alarming alleged scandal — this public television documentary argues that doctors and administrators at a major hospital there appeared to cover up serious adverse effects, including a spinal injury and suicidality, among kids who had undergone these treatments (I interviewed the lead presenter here but it's paywalled).

I'm not anti gay, anti trans, what ever, but when it comes to children I think that they had better be damn sure of what they are doing before they potentially fuck someone up for the rest of their life. I think that pretty much anyone would understand that?  :D

Here is an interesting analysis of the "scandal" that was (apparently) first published by the Daily Mail and then amplified around the right wing media.

It's a little more in depth than the cherry picked pages the right wing media uses.

Quote"American Girl has been publishing books like this for ages. This book isn't "recent." It was published in February. If you have an issue with the content without actually reading it, that says more about you than the book.

Bullshit, I've bought AG books and dolls for my daughter "ages" ago (she's 31 now), went to the store in Chicago, my wife took her to AG shows, and never, let me repeat for the deaf, never have they went down that lane.
