Wait....What if we have this whole healing/medicine thing wrong?

What if the "medicine" we receive in our "modern" society does more harm than good?

What if we all had the power to heal ourselves without the need for "Doctors" and "Drugs"?

I have no idea what that website is about. However, the truth is out there, but most folks are so addicted to the foods they like that they will not change their diet enough to make substantial improvements in health. When you start to look into it objectively and see how Big AG and food corps behave it is shocking. The amount of research and marketing that is spent to keep us addicted to foods that are highly profitable but completely unhealthy is astounding. Also the amount of lobbying and sway those big corps have over our gov agencies is huge.

As far as being healthy, it's a pretty easy formula. In reality though, it is a huge  exercise in will power and discipline.

1. Eat lots of veggies and a variety of veggies.
2. Avoid or minimize refined foods, simple carbs, sugars, etc.
3. Avoid or minimize foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol. AKA animal products.
4. Avoid or minimize foods that are known promoters of cancer. Meat, Dairy, alcohol, etc.
5. Exercise daily.
6. Eat the correct amount of calories. Most people way overeat for their bodies needs.
7. Maintain healthy weight. The sum total of the first six will be the majority of outcome for maintaining a healthy weight.
8. Get yearly physicals and bloodwork to see if you are on a positive or negative trajectory.

That being said, every human is different. Some people can eat like sh!t and stay relatively healthy. Some people have systemic issues that are greatly effected by small amounts of certain foods. Each person has differing amounts of unhealthy foods they can eat before it starts to produce negative results. Also, make realistic goals. Too big of calorie restrictive diets or to restrictive menus are not sustainable long term.

The truth is in the details of the studies/papers. There is a famous study sponsored by the egg board. They designed the study for the purpose of being able to write a summary that made eggs look good. The truth about LDL is there is a saturation point. Eating more after reaching this point will not raise LDL, however this isn't a healthy point to be at. So "researchers" loaded up the diet with meat and dairy so participants would be at the saturation point, then added or subtracted eggs. The results of the eggs barely moved the LDL values. They wrote the summary as adding an egg a day does not increase risks of heart disease, etc. Then they fed it to the media which ran countless articles siting the study as eggs are good to eat.

I saw another paper that used similar tricks to make dairy look good. they compared three groups, a meat heavy diet, a dairy heavy diet, and a veggie diet. The early results showed the veggie diet superior so they made the claim that the veggie diet was deficient in calories so they added a daily half cup of coconut oil. This made all three diets similar so they could then claim heavy dairy intake was no worse than other diets.

Oh man.. don't tell me that.  :D  My girlfriends daughter just started raising chickens this year and is giving us farm fresh eggs every few weeks.  And they are really good.

The truth is eggs are one of the worst foods you can eat, but they do taste good. Before switching to a mostly plant based diet we would go to Perkins for breakfast occasionally. My wife and one or both of my daughters would never want the eggs that came with their breakfast. I would end up eating my eggs and theirs. Sometimes 6 or 8 eggs in one sitting. that was when I was 50lbs overweight and had high blood pressure/cholesterol.

My girlfriend refuses to eat eggs.  Not because they are bad for you. She just can't stand the texture.

If you've ever listened to that morning radio show 'Coast to Coast', on some Mondays, they have a dude on there that sells supplements and claims to eat as many as a dozen boiled eggs a day.  I can't remember what his name is but he's pretty old and say's that is how he's lived so long.

I am always leery of nutrition people that focus on supplements. You should be able to get almost all of the nutrients you need from food. So many nutrients, vitamins, minerals need to be paired together for proper absorption and benefits. Many supplements are useless by themselves. Eating a wide variety of plant foods will give you just about all the nutrients you need.

I don't trust this guy at all.. I think that I read somewhere that he's not even a doctor but it was so long ago that I can't remember where I saw it.

Eggs are really good for your memory.

Sometimes I fart and I remember eating them. :)
