Kidding of course......

We're having a conversation about supporting one Republican candidate over another and you bring up the Democrats?   :headscratch:  Is someone defending, or even talking about democrats in this conversation?

Quote from: Leehound on February 16, 2023, 08:11 AMI really wasn't expecting this much negativity towards her. She seems to be well spoken and thoughtful and was a successful governor and the View doesn't like her (a big plus). But I am not going to rely on someone from YouTube to form my opinion. Until Desantis throws his hat in the ring, I will be watching her closely. Actually I really like the idea of a Desantis/Haley ticket.

I've heard Mike Pompeo may be contemplating a run at the R nomination.
I would strongly consider giving him my vote.

I'm not too excited about Nikki Haley.
Leaving her term as Governor and as UN Ambassador before either term was completed shows a lack of perseverance IMO.
Yeah, I understand, she had her reasons, but she seems to have established a pattern of bailing out when a job gets too difficult.
Not a trait I find desirable for a potential POTUS.

Quote from: beej on February 16, 2023, 09:27 AMI'm trying to follow you, but quite honestly you're just all over the place. You complain that the parties have changed, but then you refer to the "Old Big Government republicans".  You want small government republicans but you defend Trump who wanted a 2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill,https://www.npr.org/2019/04/30/718677236/trump-and-democrats-agree-on-2-trillion-for-infrastructure-but-not-on-how-to-pay

signed trillions in spending on checks to all of us who didn't even need the money for covid
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/531632-trump-signs-relief-bill-despite-criticism/

and wanted to spend even more, than conservative republicans were balking at. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/22/trump-calls-covid-relief-bill-unsuitable-and-demands-congress-add-higher-stimulus-payments.html

And you ignore all of that to complain about "Big Government Bush." Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like just mostly liked the fact that he was better at the Bully Pulpit than Bush was. Which if that's the case, that's fine, but so far you logic for liking one over the other, is all over the place.

I'm not all over the place, either I'm not doing a good job at explaining it or you're too loyal to the R party to see it. Let me clarify, when I say old big government republicans, it's the old, long time party politicians that have changed. They have changed to meet the demands of the big donors. The old or let's say traditional republican party does not exist as it were. As for Trump, I do not defend Trump's spending. IMO, he was way to willing to sign bloated spending bills.

I'll leave you with this bit of truth. Mitt Romney has shown himself to align with dem values and party more and more. He is all for big government of the corporations by his words and actions. His Daughter is the RNC chairwoman. If you don't think Romney and his big corp interests are not fully controlling the agenda of the R party you are a fool. For even more evidence look to the last election cycle where Romney/big gov supported R's got full support of the party versus the America first, Trump aligned candidates that got little to no support from the party.

Whether that's changed now IDK.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the one world puppet masters allow a loyal globalist R candidate win an upcoming presidency. The easiest way to get people to forget about the election fraud is just make sure both candidates know who their masters are.

Could be, the lack of cholesterol and resulting increased blood flow to the brain could be allowing me to see beyond my previous prejudices.

That forum no longer exists, you have no proof to back up your crazy allegations.

Also, he was the lesser of two evils.

I miss the days that I could quote screen shots of something someone said two years prior. I loved doing that to Reko.
