Ahoy!
Flying out for Texas again on the 18th and looking forward to the weather being warmer this time.  With some warmth comes a critical question:  What to carry when not wearing a ton of layers?  I was getting pretty comfortable with my HiPopwer, but it's a bit big for t-shirt weather.  I'm a bit of a traditionalist and prefer metal framed hammer fired.  Thinking a Beretta Cheetah, or even a Bersa Thunder single stack?

Thoughts?

Cheers

I carry a commander sized Springfield 1911 in an IWB holster year round. T-shirt covers it up just fine.

I carry my XDm 3.8 .45 all year... it's been my EDC for 10 years... I'm in the market for something new, just trying to decide what...

I like Kirkpatrick holsters for a minimal IWB

It's Texas!! Show your Manhood!!

If you strap it close to your zipper It's the first thing women look at.

Unless you're Neuro, then they look to see what shoes you are wearing. :o

Pete Buttigieg Boots???

FMK 9CM G2 for summer and a Springfield XD9 full size for winter.

Anyone NOT carry with one in the chamber?

I worked my way up to it while there.  Not being super experienced with any sort of carry, manually decocking took some practice before I was confident enough not to blow my toe off haha.  Feel less anxious at half cock versus cocked with safety on.  Another reason I will look for a single/double with a decocker as an alternate to the single action.  Love my hippwer though.

I'd need to spend more time with a 1911 to get comfortable EDC that platform.

NRA has a good explanation of various conditions of the 1911. Definitely a different beast.

There is only one condition that St Browning intended it to carried in...

I know the hammer back makes people nervous, but in the history of the 1911, there is only ONE scientifically documented case of a 1911 firing a round in the pictured condition.

An off duty cop set his holstered 1911 down on a shelf in a MRI room. When the tech flipped the switch, the 1911 flew across the room, struck the MRI with great force, and went BANG. Consensus was it hit hard enough for the firing pin to overcome its spring pressure and strike the primer.

There was a similar case recently where a man was killed.
A copy carrying a pistol in his waist band stepped into an MRI room and the pistol fired,
blowing out his femoral artery.
The article I read did not list the make of the pistol.
