Great advice. My brother (retired cop there) always said don't go past the Strat away from the strip. High crime area..

Atlantic City is the same way.
Stick to the boardwalk or the beach (although the beaches there are, in a word, disgusting  :poop: ).

Venturing even just a block away from the boardwalk is like walking into a war zone.  :yes:

The wife and I are going to Las Vegas in June. She has a convention there so her workplace is paying for the hotel and the meals. I'm tagging along for a cheap week out of town. The wife wants to see a Las Vegas show so I'm pushing for the Beatles show.

We're not gamblers however there seem to be lots of other things to do there. I'd probably have never gone if it wasn't a budget deal like this but I'm looking forward to the trip.

You'd dig the Raiding the Rock Vault show. I think it's at the Rio now.

The band is people you've never heard of from bands everyone has heard of. Amazing musicians playing everything from the 60s-80s.

I went out there for the same reason a few years ago. Not much of a gambler, but I really enjoyed Red Rock Canyon and touring hoover dam. We had a rental car. We had also planned to go check out Pawn Stars place, but the line to get in there wrapped around the block, so we never even tried.

I might rent a car for a day or 2. I'm planning on ubering around town for the most part, but I want to see Hoover dam so that is probably better in a rental car. Red Rock Canyon would be cool, especially if there are people climbing.

Red Rock is cool. The Calico Tanks trail is our favorite. Great view of the Strip from the top.

But 1 hour away is Valley of Fire, and it's better than Red Rocks, IMHO.

Yeah, the more I explore Vegas the more it seems the coolest stuff (to me) is outside the city limits! :)

We fly in early on Saturday so we'll have some time at the end of the day there, then Sunday is a free day for us. I'll let the wife pick what we do, though I'll be sending her lots of info on things I want to do. :)

I'll be pretty much on my own the next 3 days during the day while she's doing her convention thing. I'm going to the Hoover dam one day for sure. Sunday if she wants to go, another day if not.

Greetings from Freemont st. I saw the grand canyon and Hoover dam yesterday. We saw the Beatles love show Saturday evening. It's been a great trip so far!
