In a small town near me yesterday, there was a high speed chase, that started in Illinois, ended up in Missouri, and 2 policeman shot an unarmed man that tried to run them over with his car. The entire county held their breath until they heard it was a white male rather than a black male. Then they breathed a sigh of relief. My wife is a circuit clerk in that town, so she witnessed the tension and the relief.

You guys would have heard this suspect's name by now if he had been black.

That's where we are now in this country.

And meanwhile in Fargo ND a 23 year old police officer of only 3 months is being buried in a small Minnesota town. He was ambushed and killed by a black man with a gun. No riots planned, no buildings burning, no looting. Just loss.

In another crazy turn of events for a small town, my wife was tasked with finding an interpreter for a suspect in a rape case. He is charged with raping a young girl in a woman's bathroom in a gas station in the middle of the day. The reason they need an interpreter for his trial is that he only speaks Mayan. Doesn't understand Spanish.
