Lennon & McCartney

Lieber & Stoller

Holland & Dozier & Holland

Gamble & Huff

Many, many excellent, prolific song writers

Yeah but Taupin sent him the lyrics and Elton put the music to them. Backwards of the usual way.

Ahh, there really is no usual way....even people that like to work one way find that it isn't always that way...songs come together in many different ways....some percolate for years while others are done in 20 minutes...

Is this really my wife because so far you haven't agreed with anything I said and actually rebutted it. 😂

The only thing I know, is that unless you listen to a Jazz station or a bluegrass station, it is about impossible to hear a guitar solo, these days.

There's plenty of Rock & Blues out there...there are still guitar slingers

Didn't realize that was a music requirement? When I go to a concert and they have the guitar/drum/piano/etc solos that waste 10 minutes while introducing the band, I'm bored, so thats the time I head for the beer line, they're typically finishing up by the time I return.

It's not. I just miss it. Country and Rock used to have incredible lead guitarists, now it just all sounds the same to me. I don't know. Who is a guitarist today that could play with the greats who are mostly passed on?

Billy Strings in Bluegrass, Tommy Emmanuel is right up there, But there's not much you hear on the radio that really excites me.

I was a big fan of Joe Bonamassa about 10-12 years ago. I went to see him in concert in 2012. 70 bucks a ticket then. It was just him and 2 other guys, no opening act. I thought that was pretty expensive. Now he has quite the stage show and his tickets have gone way up. I wouldn't pay that much to see him again.
He's a great guitarist but can't sing for squat. He did a cover of Jethro Tull's "New Day Yesterday" when he was younger. His guitar work was great but his vocals ruined it for me.

Leo Kottke once described his own vocals as sounding like goose farts on a foggy day. I think that fits JB's vocals as well.

On top of that, I had a guitar teacher who's band opened for Bonamassa once. Apparently he's a real dick.
