Yep.
Another analogy I like to use is that of handing an iPhone to a chimpanzee.

He may figure out how to turn it on, and maybe even open a few apps and have it make some noises, but he will never, EVER have the ability to use it to its full capability, nor will he EVER be able to replicate it.

We humans have always been far too arrogant for our own good.
If there is indeed such advanced alien technology out there it would not be surprising to find that we have only scratched the surface in our understanding of it.

I have never seen anything with my own eyes, but it just seems more unlikely that we are alone than we have other intelligence. I love watching Ancient Aliens on History channel. I guess I'm a believer.

I have a hard time believing that we are alone in space. All those stars out there, all those planets, all those galaxies....we can't be the only ones. The numbers just don't add up. It's a probability thing to me.

I surely do not believe anything the govt tells me....before or after c-19. I think if they came out and said that there is life out there, it would set off a series of events that would cause total chaos. It would destroy religion and most people's thinking on life, death and morals (if morals even are a thing anymore).

There is so much that we do not know, about this planet, physics, the human body, that sway me. How much of the oceans have we explored? We know what is on land, but what about the waters? We can't even tell for sure if the earth is warming or cooling, let alone if we have any effect on it. We are not that smart of a species.

I would love to have lived 1000 years from now and see where we evolve to, if we survive that long. I think that would be amazing to see the evolution of our planet and species.

I think 50 or 100 years ago that may have been the case, but not today.
I am a born-again Christian, and if an alien spaceship landed on the White House lawn today, that would not shake my faith one bit.

All that would tell me is that the Creator of the universe has also created life in other places that He has chosen to not reveal to us until now.

Belief in God, and the possibility of life on other planets, are not mutually exclusive in my opinion.

Quote from: JakeL on July 24, 2023, 11:57 AMAs for UFO's, I believe if "aliens" figured a way to travel through outer space, they probably also have a way to go undetected by us humans. Sort of like Men in Black.
You're thinking appears to be based on all "aliens"  having the same technology. Some very ancient aliens can be "God like" or God himself while the younger ones may be more limited on the amount of travel they can achieve.
Either way we are almost nothing to any aliens that can make it to our solar system without living in it.

It's more likely that the universe is teeming with life, occasionally intelligent, but that there is no such thing as faster than light travel and that we are essentially on our own.

I agree. It would probably shake the faith of people who believe in an "Old Man in the Sky" god. But that is not what Christians believe in, we believe in a God who exists outside of time and space. A God who willed all things into being.

I think that there are very few people who don't think, there must be life out there on other planets. My belief is that it is impossible for them to travel here. Not just because of the light years of travel it would take them to get here, but also the time it takes for life to evolve, from single cell organisms to intelligent life, to modern technology. they would have to come from a planet that not only supports life, which is rare enough, but also one in which, no asteroid or calamity has ever struck hard enough to make life take several steps back. It's all mathematically possible, but all of these things have to happen just right, but also have to happen relatively close to our place in the Milky Way.

I do think those are possible. They have evidence that black holes can distort the fabric of space, so what's to say you can't fold it in half?

Of course, I'm not a physicist, so I am completely talking out of ignorance.

I think there are things about space and time that we don't understand.
Again, that human arrogance that assumes we know everything comes into play.

Faster-than-light travel is not possible BY OUR UNDERSTANDING, but that doesn't mean someone else hasn't found a way to accomplish it.

It would be statistically improbable that we are "alone" in the universe as far as life forms go. Is there life similar to us? Dunno. Would not change anything for me if there were/were not.

I do think Ben Rich was F.O.S. but when you're the 2nd guy to ever run Skunk Works, and you have the U2, A-12, SR-71 and F-117 under your belt, you get a license to say whatever you want.

The great filter theory holds merit. It leaves room for there to be a ton of life out there, but the great filter is set before life can figure out how to travel through the vastness of outer space.

I also agree with the whole "humans are dumb" idea. I think we've barley scratched the surface of how everything around us works.

I do think it would cause mass chaos if Biden got on stage one day and announced "aliens have arrived". Though I'm sure most people wouldn't believe him anyway. I think the best way for that to be announced is being drip fed the information.

Could be that most things that are alive wouldn't fare well after being folded in half.
