I'm starting to wonder which one of these old politicians are going to croak first.

We have people that can't finish sentences, forget where they are, can't put a sentence together..

I don't know why these people want to torture themselves for what's left of their lives. Ego? Power trip?

Feinstein?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Power. They're used to being a big deal and don't want to give it up.

^^^Yup^^^

Power is THEE most addicting drug out there.

That's why relics like Biden, Feinstein, McConnell, et al, won't step aside even though they clearly don't have the mental acuity to do their jobs.

I think we've gone past mental acuity.  It looked like both Feinstein and McConnell had strokes mid conversation.  :(

I don't know what to say about Joe.

I think it goes beyond ego. I think they have made so many promises to their handlers that they can't give up. They are the old guard keeping the status quo going. New blood means big pharm, big food, big oil, big tech, etc will have to buy a whole new set of politicians. And what happens if they are idealistic and can't be bought?

It's not just old politicians, we have mostly middle aged ones around here and they are pretty much worthless.

In recent memory, can anyone name one outside of Ron Paul?

I'll wait.....

It's just sad. Set maximum age limit to 72. I'm 65 and know for certain I'm not as good at anything since 55.

I'd argue that Trump was his own man. The liberal media loved to report how he wouldn't listen to his advisors.

On the other side I would say the younger socialists (AOC/squad) are more concerned about their socialist/anti-capitalist dreams than the concerns of big business.

I agree, it would be better for democracy. My point was from the perspective of big business and why the old timers won't let go.

Same.

He came in as an outsider to beltway politics and was thus hated by the establishment on BOTH SIDES, but loved by many people for that exact same reason.

But sadly we saw first-hand the result of the establishment allowing ANY outsider to get a foot in the door like Trump did.

I can guarantee that won't happen again...
