This shit sucks. The only good thing is low humidity.

Dust bowl-era Kansas and Oklahoma saw 130 degrees. Hope that doesn't happen

Heat dome?

Looking at the predicted highs on that map, I think we could just call it August. :coffee:

yeah, I'm pretty sure, we get a heat dome every year in August here. Our all time high temp here in Missouri was in 1954. 115 degreees. this isn't close to that.

We've had 2 weeks of really pleasant weather. So the local channels quit talking about climate change. but now they are talking about it again, but the weather is supposed to be pleasant again this weekend. so that will stop the climate talk again.

Warm weather is climate change. cool weather is just weather. Bill Maher explained it well one time during a harsh winter.  ::)

All I know is, it feels like the Martians have their heat ray pointed at me when I go outside. My air conditioner can't keep up. It stays at about 82 degrees in the afternoon and early evening.

We seem to be exceeding the forecast highs so far. We were around 110 the whole weekend. My car thermometer read 113 a couple of times. Even for August that's a little extreme around here. Looks like it will be like that the rest of the week.

My timing is impeccable. My ac unit just fried out on Saturday. Borrowing some window shakers and fans to get by for the next couple weeks until I can get it fixed.

We were just talking about it at work. My buddy said he and his wife were out and about Saturday afternoon and whe was complaining about being hot. He pointed to the dash and said it's 112 degrees out. She said "oh, crap. I thought that was the time". My other buddy took his boat out to the lake. He said it was too hot even for that. The 25 mph wind felt like a convection oven.

That really sucks. There was an explosion at a power station in south Wichita yesterday that affected about 6,000 customers. The red cross was setting up "cooling stations" for people till the power came back on.

100-110+ with no ac is no joke, hope you guys are staying safe, and cool.

We've had a unusually cool summer up here. We had like one week that was triple digits, usually we get a month or so of high 90's or triple digits.

It was like mid 70's deep into summer, that one week heat wave, and a couple weeks ago we were back in the 80's. This coming week is actually supposed to be low-mid 70's again. I'm certainly not complaining, if it could be 60's and 70's year round I'd be in paradise.

You're right, we've not had a ton of heat but what we have had almost ALL summer is sticky, oppressive humidity...I've spent time out in Tucson, I can handle the 107° with a light breeze....85° & 70% humidity, that air that you can feel sitting on when you walk outside....that I can't handle....

I know my AC's were on about 2/3's of June, then another 3/4 of July....they have finally gotten a rest over the past few weeks...lord knows with NH's electric rates my wallet needed the rest.

Replace the capacitor on the AC unit, that's 99% of problems with them. $20 part, 5 minute job.
