Quote from: mowens on October 31, 2023, 01:19 PMI had Farmer's for years. We had several years in a row of widespread hail and severe weather. My homeowner's insurance increased dramatically, to the point that I had to tell my agent I can't afford this anymore. He told me he thought that the company may be deliberately trying to price themselves out of this state to get out from under all of the weather related damages. I don't know if that's true or not, but it made sense at the time.
I sounds like I should consider ourselves blessed as far as house insurance is concerned. Ours went up less than $100 but we have never needed to use them yet. Being close to Lake Michigan more than likely helps us also.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on October 27, 2023, 06:12 PMNow I'm in a new state wondering what can befall us here. Only time will tell.

Earthquake. Not a matter of if but when. And when it does happen it will be a total shitshow, UT doesn't have any of the standards the CA has when it comes to constructing a home in a earthquake zone. The dipshits here allow homes to be built on a filled in ravine on the side of a mountain & wonder why the homes aren't standing after an above average spring runoff.

Now as far as that when...it could be a year, or 100 years. It will happen though.

I figured we were in the Yellowstone basin, and....these mountains didn't form from erosion. But.good to know.

So, what's homeowners insurance and hurricanes have to do with so-called assault weapons ban?

QuoteCurrently, about 80% of Utah's population live along the Wasatch Fault, representing the largest earthquake threat in the interior Western U.S.

You are also correct about the Yellowstone thing. Tho the time frame on that one is a bit longer. Say in the next 500,000 years something will happen. Source - I used to bang a geologist. She lives in Bozeman now, even closer to the action. I figure if she thinks its safe, I am OK too.

So the 9th circus put a stay on St benitez ruling.
One of the things required to make that happen is proving the likelihood that the defendants or the state will likely prevail. What total joke of a judicial system we have.

Thankfully Trump got the 9th closer to even. I think the Constitution hating Jesters only enjoy a 3 Jester advantage... down from like 16. It's still a clown show though.

Quote from: YoDoug on October 20, 2023, 05:26 AMBiden's 87000 armed, and urban assault trained IRS agents, are specifically designed to take your guns. The idea has been floated many times of taxing gun ownership. The neo-con SCOTUS will side with the lib SCOTUS that a tax doesn't infringe 2A rights. The same as the reasoning for letting Obamacare stand. The tax will be so high that most will have to surrender their guns or face the armed IRS squads. I'm not exactly sure on the timing though. A move like this is/could be a tipping point for mass civil unrest. They will not do this until they are forced. If the election fraud in 2024 becomes so evident that the majority of people are ready for someone to take action, they will come after the guns.
Did Biden receive the money to purchase the 87,000 IRS agents? I don't remember reading that he did. I know early in the discussion he didn't have enough votes.

CONgress still controls the purse strings and they told the kid sniffer to pound sand. So, we're safe at the moment.

The likelihood of "door to door" operations is remote... for the time being. A lot of people are getting worked up about it, but they aren't thinking logically/tactically/strategically about the logistics of such an operation. They are just getting emotional.

Well that's part of the problem, and the reason McCarthy is no longer Speaker.

The trend has been to push through these YUGE omnibus spending bills stuffed full with all kinds of goodies for all kinds of pet projects on both sides of the aisle.  Pretty sure the IRS funding is probably lumped in together with the whole Treasury Department budget, which is probably lumped in with a few other major departments, so our Representatives in the House have no choice but to vote on those spending bills all-or-nothing.

That's what Rep. Matt Gaetz and others were trying to get changed when they agreed to vote for McCarthy as Speaker, but he just went right back to the same old deal-making that got us so deep in debt to begin with.

Nothing will change until someone changes it, and Single Item Bills are a good place to start.
The new Speaker seems much more inclined to at least try to break those huge, controversial spending bills into smaller pieces, so we'll see how he does going forward.
