Quote from: CNCAppsJames on January 08, 2024, 08:54 AMNo, it wasn't. And that's the rub.

:coffee:

I mean, that's your and many others opinion. A lot of people don't see it that way.

When people are willing to or feel entitled to go to the Capitol and injure police officers in an attempt to break in to the Capitol with the goal of preventing the certification of an election, that is a big deal regardless of their chance of succeeding.

That's just my opinion of course.  :D

I don't think that is in dispute. Like I said, there's like 5 (you gave 2 additional) charges that may have merit. Not all though. Maybe 10% of the hundreds deserved jail.

Forget Tucker.
I asked you why those police officers didn't arrest the guy who was allegedly committing 'insurrection'.
Are the stills from the video or the video itself faked?

If not, the officers clearly had multiple opportunities to arrest him, but they didn't do that.

Quote from: neurosis on January 08, 2024, 08:43 AMWas his intended goal when he entered the Capitol to obstruct an official proceeding? Meaning, to prevent the certification of the election? Or was he just there to sight see?

Him being in the crowd of the first 30 people to breach the building probably didn't work in his favor.

Was he charged with or did he commit insurrection?
Was that his intended goal?
Because we keep hearing that word thrown around in the media like it is fact.

Like I said, much exaggerating on both sides of this.

That is your opinion of why they were all there.

My opinion is some were flr that, others just wanted their grievances heard because clearly in court literally NOBODY had standing so their voice didn't count. It didn't count at the ballot. It didn't count in court. So, you go to The Capitol.

There is evidence that people were there specifically for that reason and armed. I've posted links to the case of one of them.

Were they all there for that reason, probably not. In fact I'd say that most of them weren't. The the provable fact is, some of them were.

If you saw a crowd of people looting a store would you follow them in to the store even though you had no intention of looting?

I posted a link to his Statement of Offense. It might be worth a read.

He wasn't just wondering around sight seeing, he was inciting.

I guess you could try to go stand outside of a cop shop and encourage people to throw rocks through the windows on a bullhorn and then use "I was just protesting" as a defense.  I'd like to know how that works out.

He was asked several times to leave and instead, he was telling people over his bull horn to break in to areas they knew they weren't supposed to be.  Isn't it illegal to encourage people to break the law?

What ever you want to call it, it landed him in prison and it sounds like he deserved it.

It's not a matter of perspective. It's illegal. And the conversation was about Jacob Chansley/QAnon Shaman, not Trump. Some people on here seem to think that he was just sight seeing when he was actually inciting. Or at least that's what the police reported.
