That is probably because the Cimco add-in was(is) so lame it was(is) not a threat to even the early days of Mastercam dynamic milling

I still use Volumill some to this day, but we have the integrated module for NX.  I also use NX's adaptive milling strategies when I am too lazy to pull up the volumill toolpaths.

I used Volumill in TopSolid V7.12, and it worked well for our purposes. When we upgraded to V7.17 Volumill was replaced (entirely) with Boost (I believe this was developed internally by the TS developers). This too works quite well, and calculation times seem a little quicker, though I've not tried to benchmark this.

I've got no MC experience unfortunately, so I can't offer any input about how VM (or Boost) works compared to dynamic (maybe Neuro or YoDoug could chime in?).

I know that VM had (has?) their standalone version, but wonder how much of a PITA that could be vs using whatever's integrated into one's preferred CAM program.

Another interesting observation: I've heard some folks remark on the level of integration of VM into other CAM s/w, and that not all features/switches were implemented (but I can't speak from firsthand experience unfortunately). It would be interesting to see their standalone version and compare with some of the other integrations out there...anyone?
