Quote from: beej on March 19, 2024, 09:23 AMI do like some of the bluegrass\folk that's coming out. Ever listen to the Steel Wheels? "Scrape me off the ceiling" is a good one that they do.

I don't know that I have heard that one yet. I'll look it up.

My feelings also. At last place I worked I would just leave when they played that. I don't need music to work too. Prefer to listen when I'm relaxing.

I feel the same about bro-country; basically, any modern country music.

I've been a hard rock / metal fan since 1970. I have expanded my horizons significantly since then but metal and electric blues (Savoy Brown, Ten Years After) have always been my favorite. I've been trying to listen to some emo (i think that's the name?) where one minute it sounds like Norwegian death metal then suddenly it's a pop tune, then back to the death metal. My son in law listens to it. It was popular when he was in Iraq in the early 2000's. I call it Bieber metal. Not to his face, of course.  :)

I can't imagine not listening to music when I'm doing... like anything. Programming, yard work, working on my truck, playing video games, driving, I listen to music all the time. I think I'd go nuts if I had to work without music.

A coworker told me at the last shop he worked they banned music. Something about increasing productivity. He said they found so many people asleep at their machine that they lifted the ban pretty quick.

Quote from: Jeff on March 19, 2024, 09:00 AMThere is also:
Classic Vinyl
Classic Rewind
and I think a Deep Cuts station as well. Might want to check those out.

Yeah I bookmarked Classic Vinyl and Rewind, and the Tom Petty station too.
I will look for the Deep Cuts one as well.

All pretty decent stations, but I find myself listening to the 70's on 7 more than most.  :guitar:

I never heard it called that before, but yeah, I'm right there with ya. I never listen to country anymore. I like some new country, like Chris Stapleton and Jamey Johnson. But I don't like listening to all the other stuff waiting for it to come on.

Most feel as you do. I just couldn't think when music was playing at work.

Not sure of the term bro-country either.

I do like the country classics like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, George Jones, etc...

I have always liked Hootie and the Blowfish, so when Darius Rucker decided to do a country album I had to check it out.

I like it!  8)

We banned music out in our shop back in the early 2000's but it had nothing to do with productivity.

At some point we had 8 different people listening to 8 different radio stations and if one person couldn't hear theirs, they would turn it up until it was louder than the others and then that would start a cycle.

It was impossible to think straight so radios were banned out in the shop.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Country sucks.
You have a ton of people singing it and almost all of them put on a fake southern accent.
