It must be collusion as that's the same exact model other CAM companies are pushing.  3 years subscription is almost the same as buy and pay 3 years of maintenance. 

If one of them decides to cut subscription price by 50% they might make a killing.  and no.... Fusion doesn't count!

It's not collusion in the CAM software, it's the results of MBA/Account cranks and a crap-ton of market research...  They've found the optimum price to get bean counters to rent it instead of buying it is to make sure that the cost is Sligggghhhtttlllyyy cheaper than 3 years of buy+maintenance.  That's as far as most corporate cost-projecting goes with anything other than very large capital expenditures.

If you were a CAM system, and all of your competitors were charging X for a license, why would you charge X/2?  New customers are going to think that you're a cut-rate software, and skip because you're like a subscription SprutCam   You'd only be helping existing customers, which have already proven they're willing to pay X.  So, basically, you'd give up half of your revenue for barely any gain.   

This is what happens when public companies own everything, they're legally required to maximize revenue for the shareholders in the short term...

This year we added the 3 Mill 2d, 3 Lathe, and 2 MT environments. We certainly did NOT add essentially DOUBLE the same products.

Cimco $2400 from $360
We added DNC(61 ports), NCBase

The Cimco isn't bad considering...

The Mastercam is F**king highway robbery..

total is $33,530.00

Last year for reference was $18,640.00

Sandvik crash grab gonna ruin that and many other companies.

I am so glad I am moving away from mastercam in the near future. Atleast with other software it seems like they are improving it. IMHO CNC software is a ship full of holes with many jumping overboard for greener pastures. Its a damn shame becauase if the software just worked as it should it would be acceptable but these days I encounter so many errors that make things take sooooo muuuucccchhhh longer than they should. Latley using mastercam just makes my blood boil after exploring other options and seeing how much faster and easier it can be.

At this point, I am convinced, after the howling, Sandvik with "seen the light"...a "lower overall cost" subscription plan will be offered.

I am currently debating whether or not I am going to submit this for renewal this year. Even if I do, I am going to at the very least initiate some discussion in the coming year.

I feel like I will be doing "this" company a disservice if I blindly accept this and don't do my "due diligence" to explore other options.
