Maybe on this forum, but on the loony forum I mentioned earlier it's more like 80%, and you can get sent to Ban Island for a few days for suggesting otherwise.

Like I said, loonier than this place.  ;)

There are men that believe they are women!  Clearly some people will believe anything.

Assuming you believe that gender dysphoria is a mental disorder, are you saying that people who believe conspiracy theories have a mental disorder?  :D

If the conspiracy theorist carries on his own body evidence to the contrary, then yes.

Would that include evidence based on zero proof? Like maybe a twitter post, or a facebook meme?

Quote from: YoDoug on October 04, 2024, 05:20 AMThere is polling to back that up. I saw one poll that had like 40% of Dems polled believing voter fraud changed the outcome of the election.

The big lie works if they keep repeating it enough.

Even before the election the Repugs are setting the stage for fraud accusations in case Trump loses again.

Yup, Adam Schiff kept saying over and over he had evidence of Trump collusion and you believed it. Turns out he was lying.

there is no such thing as evidence based on zero proof. Evidence is proof. but if you say that believing a conspiracy theory with no evidence, and therefore, no proof, might be a mental disorder, it could be evidence of a mental disorder, ie Schizophrenia, but doesn't necessarily point to it. Most of the time, conspiracy theories start with some sort of evidence that temporarily looks true until investigated further. The people who believe such theories mostly lack trust in the institutions that investigate the evidence. So you have people who think that the 2020 election was stolen by Democrats even though the evidence points away from it, and you have people who believe Trump is a Russian asset even though the evidence points away from that as well.

The people who believe those conspiracy theories, mostly believe them because of a lack of trust in other people. The men who believe they are a woman, carry the evidence literally right in front of them, have trust issues between their own body and their own mind, thus the mental disorder. If a man really believed he could fly like a bird even though all the evidence in front of him said otherwise, we would call that a mental disorder, even the left would agree with that assessment. Right now we have people all over the world believing things there is no evidence for and people from both the left and right pushing them to continue believing.

Sure, but my point is, they think that those twitter posts and facebook meme's *ARE* the evidence. Then spread that "evidence" to convince other people.

I saw a meme going around this morning that showed patents to weather modification things (things because I don't want to go through every patent) and said that is evidence that the hurricane was caused by the US government with the goal of taking over those mines.  The same post also said that it was proof that the government is intentionally modifying weather to push a global warming agenda.

You wouldn't believe how many people responded to that meme in support of that conspiracy.

I don't necessarily have a problem with conspiracy theories (some times they can be fun and interesting) and I'm just drawing lines that aren't there. But you started it.  :D
