The Haitians found relatively cheap housing and jobs because

actually they are receiving $1800/month housing subsidies from the long suffering tax payers.
That's about $800 over market and citizens are getting evicted so the landlord can rent to immigrants
and collect that Federal cheese.

Because the immigrants are basically living rent free, they can work cheaper so citizens are being replaced
by cheaper immigrants.

So citizens are being evicted and laid off to make way for Federally subsidized immigrants.
and

for an added bonus... the auto repair business is booming, because the immigrants are getting provisional driver's licenses and they don't know how to drive.  That has led to an increase in car crashes....
it's more work for body shops, hospitals and morgues ... It's a win win win for everybody except the dead, the injured
and citizens whose cars are being destroyed by uninsured drivers.

I stand corrected. It really is news worthy, just not for the reason you and other Trumpers think it is.

It was pretty much a success story. The Haitians found relatively cheap housing and jobs because Springfield was shrinking, as many small midwestern towns do through people moving away for better opportunities. They paid taxes and spent money in the town.

But not without growing pains, as you mentioned.

If you want to know more, look around. I'm not going to spend a lot of time trying to convince somebody who wants to believe people "Eating dogs and cats" is a minor exaggeration anything.
