My son is a musician, he lives in northern arkansas and plays music in the branson area. He called me last night saying he bought a banjo. I just about fell out of my chair, because I had just posted this yesterday. 2 months in Arkansas and they already got to him.

Sorry Jeff but the AP didn't report on any of that, so it's all misinformation.

Quote from: Newbeeee™ on January 10, 2025, 06:05 AMThat was a year ago....so how has the emergency strengthening or the immediate building of a new one progressed

We had a similar situation in my area 15 years ago or so. A dam on the green river (Howard Hanson Dam) started to move because the integrity was compromised. They had to put giant sand bags along the green river that stayed in place for several years.  It took a LONG time to get the dam fixed.  I think it was something like 5 years. Probably longer

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Super Scoopers are very cool airplanes
Back in the olden days I made a bunch of parts for the flight control systems for those planes
I hope the plane and crew are OK and that they hang the idiot flying that drone by his balls.

Quote from: riverhunter on January 10, 2025, 06:09 AMcali water is very complicated.
.......
Mark Twain once said.  "Whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting"  that sums up cali water pretty well.
If only it was complicated... might be able to solve that problem.

The fact of the matter Kommieforniastan can't plan it's way out of a paper bag. Projects that would take 2 years in any other sane state take 5 or 10 years. And the electorate puts up with it, and dare I say EMBRACES it.

Californians are THE definition of frogs in the boiling pot. They don't know how bad the state really is because it only gets incrementally worse so they don't truly feel it. Having left the state for a state that actually plans AND executes said plans is refreshing.

When a new construction home is built, part of the fees and taxes are to cover infrastructure (gas, water, electric, and ROADS). NONE of that money ever goes to the roads. Just ask people in Moreno Valley. Then60 freeway has been woefully inadequate for 30 years all the while new construction continues.  And the same shitbirds keep getting voted in.

I am SO glad I GTFO that shithole. The fucked up thing now is in the not too distant future, Kommieforniastan is going to go to the Federal Government for a bailout for the $1 TRILLION dollars in unfunded pension liability.  The REALLY fucked up thing is of there was an entity in the US that is too big to fail, nit is the California Economy. WHEN that state goes bankrupt, the whole fuckingnUS economy is going to tank. All because fucking Democrats.

We have them here - pilots are cool AF. There's great footage on youtube in the cockpit and the way they throw the ol gals about is awesome.
We've seen 4 or 5 airshows in the time we've been here - where we used to live we had a show where there was a HUGE fire over the hill and we were sea side, so they'd come up the valley pulling on the stick clearing house tops by 30 feet!

Looks like quite a doink, so my 10bucks says it was quite a large one. I wonder if it was a MSM news team drone getting footage....

just to name a few....

los vaqueros reservoir dam raising = water agency walked away from project 2 years ago due to permitting and cost

Shasta Dam raising = held up with permits and cost

Sites reservoir = still working thru permitting and getting sued by every fake hippe in California to prevent it from moving forward.

list goes on..... There are people trying and there are people doing there best to stop them all.

In other words, the people that have the authority to approve it aren't getting enough money.
