The wind is back up this morning and we got a text about 1AM warning of potential power outages.
We are about 80 miles upwind of the fires and are in no danger at the moment.

I don't know how to respond. No one should go through this.

I can only give prayers and hope for your Safety. :)

Our power came back on early Friday evening and stayed on all weekend
We got another shutoff notice with a 4 hour window last night at 9:30
The shutoff did not happen and there have been no further notices.
Winds are currently 15mph gusting to 30 and humidity is 10-15% ... perfect firestorm weather  :-\

Wow! in Missouri we always complain about the humidity. it rarely gets below 50% here. usually 75-90. Maybe that's why we never have forest fires.

Socal will go the better part of a year without appriciable rain. Just enough to grow some brush that'll dry into kindling the rest of the year

And not everyone will create enough defensible space around their dwellings for WHEN the fires come.

That's why it's so bad right now
We had 2 seasons of unusually wet winters which resulted in heavy grass and brush growth
Now we have a fall and early winter with no rain and very low humidity. All that grass and brush
is so dry it's explosive
