Quote from: beej on January 13, 2025, 06:47 AMWow! in Missouri we always complain about the humidity. it rarely gets below 50% here. usually 75-90. Maybe that's why we never have forest fires.

The weather channel is showing 65% humidity in KC even at 15 degrees. I doubt we've ever seen 15% humidity here!

My experience in California is limited. I've been to the Irving area several times for Vericut training and south, but not very far north. From what I recall there were very few trees, it was mostly low shrubbery, similar to the photo below. Is that what is burning now?

Governor Grease...

He KNOWS he's gonna get a massive payday from someone for this. He's giddy.

I've spent a lot of time in Missouri and Arkansas. I've always thought the humidity is a killer. I swear, Branson was almost as bad as Orlando.

I went to Galveston/Houston in August a few years ago. That trip introduced me to a whole different level of humidity. It was so miserable it made KC seem moderate. It's great from October thru March though.

The first vacation my wife planned for us was to Corpus Christi in July. It was like a really humid hell.

I spent a year in Okinawa, Japan while in the service.
Never been so miserable in my life.
Summers were 95° and 98% humidity'
After the morning 5 mile run on the beach you could stand in a cold shower and watch sweat beading on your arm through the water.
I gained massive respect for the men and women who served in Vietnam during that year.
That was a 1000 miles further south and exponentially worse....
not to mention what they were doing there was much harder and much more dangerous
than my jog on the beach  :unworthy:

The most humid place I've ever been was Malaysia in August.

I had to take a shower to dry off there. Every afternoon we had thunder showers. It was high 90's temp-wise and mid 90's humidity -wise.

Don't want to go back there in the summer. Speaking of Malaysia... it's considered a 3rd World Country. It was cleaner than Los Angeles. :coffee:

it's a whole different place now... It may be 3rd world inland, but not Singapore.

Do you remember several years ago there was a huge controversy over a spoiled American teenager who was sentenced to
100 lashes for graffiti??  He got them too.

Singapore is not Malaysia though... two completely different nations.
