If I had stayed at Boeing I would have 45 yrs. I left to go contracting because of the earning potential. If I had stayed at Boeing I would be better off financially but I wouldn't have the job I have now (that I really like).

I was offered a shop floor manager position when the original owner passed, but I didn't take it.  I would have taken it under the original owner. The current owner is too worried about hurting everyone's feelings and I'm not.  lol. I don't think I would be a good fit because I don't think I would get the support needed to manage a shop floor.

I say original owner, but we're on the 3rd gen now.

I've had the current owner message me to tell me not to talk to someone after something fucked up has happened.   

I'm not a drill sergeant. But if someone fucks something up and I find out that it's because they weren't paying attention, I'll tell them.  And I'm not passive aggressive about it.

I did once. I was training a guy on one of our Okuma vmc's a few years ago. I did an MDI tool change and he decided to stick his had in the machine and try to grab the tool
I slapped his hand away instantly, telling him not to do that unless he wants to lose fingers.

He got pissed at me for disrespecting him and slapping his hand.
He didn't last long here after that. He was your typical badass wannabe and former prison inmate.

The guy I work for now used to work under me.

He started there when he was 16 years old and he was the owners son so he was a bit of a fuck off.

I never cut him any slack just because he was the owners son. He knows I can be a dick when it's needed. lol
