I'd love to see the way this develops....because you still need the basics
Part number
Revision + change log number and date
Material
Finish
Important notes such as paint masking positions and tolerance of placement, masking of certain holes etc.
Also all the relevant specs that apply such as any company specs etc.
It all has to be "encompassed somewhere"....like it currently is on a print.

Absolutely. I'm not sold that it can even happen, tbh. Aside from a digital print included as a level, and then we're just moving laterally.

We know from our perspective what information is necessary to make the part correctly, and I'm not certain that the personnel involved on a high level project like that agree/know what that info is. I'm sure there are some folks in manufacturing involved, but by my assumption this is the equivalent of theoretical physics in engineering.

At the end of the day it really is a huge undertaking. Computer science, engineering, manufacturing, maybe these projects stall because there aren't enough multi-disciplined experts with motivation to get it done?

Was wondering what has happened to the employees that worked for the re-sellers???

The resellers bought so far, the employees have become Mastercam employees.

Whether some decided to not take the offer, that I cannot speak to, I have no knowledge either way

Many of the resellers were/are family owned businesses that became Mastercam resellers 20 to 30 years ago.
Their hard work and personal support are what made Mastercam what it is today.
I do not know how many ex-owners elected to remain or if they were even offered the opportunity to remain.
Their life's work was essentially taken from them by force and it would be very hard to make the transition from
owner to an employee in a company you used to own.

QTE (our Reseller) just announced that they've been bought by Mastercam. I knew it was coming after all of the other buyouts. it sure seem to me, like Mastercam is putting all of their extra money into acquiring rather than development.
And in my opinion, development has been lacking for several years, maybe almost a decade.

Anyone here in the Beta program had a look at MC2027? I read it is possibly a substantial update.

I hope so. I used 2026 for about 3 months. I had a job that programmed in 2025 so rather than updating the files, I just switched back and stayed with it. I figured I would get used to the new levels and planes motif eventually. But I just really don't like it. and the bugs that I have in 2025 are still in 2026. so in 2026 there isn't any upside for me.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way to look at it would be who's got an active, foundational succession plan in place to keep the dealership going for the desired number of years if the principal owner/ownership group passed away unexpectedly? The cold, hard reality is there are only a select few dealerships that fit that bill, and several have been tested over the last 10 years or so.

Just my WAGFWIW

Sandvik acquires QTE Manufacturing

QuoteQTE Manufacturing Solutions, founded in 1985, has evolved from performing tool and fixture design for the aerospace industry into a leading CAD/CAM solutions provider serving manufacturers across Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Southern Illinois. The St. Charles, Missouri-based company has been recognized as a top-performing Mastercam maintenance retention Channel Partner and operates as a certified Mastercam training center, providing specialized solutions to industries ranging from aerospace to automotive and beyond.

The part about this I dislike the most is the service.
It's getting better, but the same day turnaround I got from Dave and Chris at Postability is long gone.

there is definitely something to be said for that. I know that recently John deere had a huge issue going forward in Missouri when one of their biggest local dealerships was left with inadequate leadership. They decided to force a merger with a smaller dealership that had a better corporate office. So you are right in that.

But I'm still left wondering when I will get a version of Mastercam that makes me glad I pay for maintenance. right now the only thing that only enhancements that I am getting is that when I swap work with other shops that use Mastercam we both have the same version. It's left a bitter taste for a while now.

I've had QC people take control of Desktop remotely, see the problem, log it as some R number and nothing ever changes version after version, still the same problems.

I've always wanted to talk to a developer and ask about how heirarchy of fixes gets assigned. Is it number of people with the same issue, is it severity of the bug, or something else?

For a VERY long time, I've wished they (Mastercam) would just devote 1 or 2 quarters every couple/few years and just blow through a bunch of the low hanging, nagging fruit. It would create SO much goodwill with users. Like the file extension order. I'm sorry, but there's just no way in hell somebody would not be able to knock that out in a few hours. Don't make excuses, just do it. I KNOW that is a simple thing.

I know the majority of software development isn't as easy as that and that it would put them behind in other areas, but it would make users believe they are being heard.
