There's a pneumonia vaccine available.....do you take it in your 30's & 40's????    No, not likely.....

Do you take it as you get into your 50's & 60's?   Far more likely, as it can hit you much harder as you age and your body isn't as strong.....

DO you take this concoction as you age?   I think that's a "hell ya" as Covid has shown older people don't do well with it.  Now as you age, gain some weight and as far too many deal with today today have diabetes...it becomes a much stronger action to do so.

So no Jeff, no sheep. People are weighing the odds of getting sick, against the odds of getting extremely sick  if you do get it.

Yes, the hype of this thing is beyond way over the top....

Covid is however, real. It can and does kill people. It can and does keep people very ill, in hospitals for extended periods of time.

So I'm sure others, like myself weighed those options. Some decided to roll the dice, some decide to roll the dice and get the shot.

Who's right, whose wrong?  No one, we all made the choice to or not too

Exactly John! It always cracks me up that whenever someone makes a free choice to do something, that isn't what someone else might do, the someone else whips out their sheeple tag.

As if only they are not following their own herd.
People are weird as hell. They scream about freedom and independence, while mindlessly accepting the opinions fed to them by whichever propaganda news outlet they are currently enamored with.

If you don't want to take the shot. It's simple, don't take the shot. If you want to take the shot, take it. If you don't take the shot and select private companies require proof of vaccination to do business with them, don't do business with them.

The trouble is that everyone thinks they are right and everyone else is wrong. The unprecedented levels of hubris in society today is astounding. Respect and courtesy have become one way streets, folks think they are owed them, but they don't owe anyone else the same.

Okay, I don't actually feel any better now, but I'll stop ranting...at least for the next 10 minutes.

I just have a problem in general with the over-medication of society as a whole.

but just fucking ask a question. "Hey doc, are your REALLY sure I 'NEED' that? Are the side effects going to be worse that what we're trying to treat?" I mean have you ever listened to the ads on tv when they tell you the list the possible side effects? My gosh...

Oh, and now we've got super bugs that we can't kill. Thanks a lot. All because somebody had to have a pill or a doctor had to prescribe something.

I agree. I have Hepatitis C, from the stupidity of my youth, but it is the mildest of the genome types (there are, I believe 6 different genotypes). The gastroenterologist suggested I get the wildly expensive cure(at the time the treatment cost was north of 100K, I don't know what it is today).
I asked what the chances were that I was going to die from Hep C and he said that I was more likely to die of old age related causes. Then why the hell was he pushing for me to get the therapy???

Out of those 500,000 people that died, how many were there that the Chinavirus was the cause of death?
Since they don't hesitate to slap that on the death certificate even if they died in a car accident, nobody knows the true numbers. For all we know it could be in the hundreds or less.

I think everyone is fine with that.
Where it gets complicated is if/when governments decide to mandate it, and the authoritarians we have in power at the moment seem perfectly willing to go down that road.

This is not the same as a private company we can choose to do business with or not.
Can the state or fed deny a taxpaying citizen benefits or services if they have chosen to NOT receive the vaccine?
We need to ask these questions now, so that those in authority will think long and hard about going down that road.

You are right...it should be a choice, and it should remain that way.

I think being proactive is always preferable to being reactive. That being said, I think each "side" assuming that the other is evil incarnate, is little more than theater, the same drama-queen crap that we all claim to abhor.
Our vaunted "free press" and the ever increasing collection of "social" media sites just egg on sensationalist political theater for ratings and we've all joined the bandwagons...because we're all such "independent" thinkers.

I'm not claiming that the current collection of turds in the Washington cesspool are not any more or less authoritarian than the last collection of turds. I just think America's most dangerous problems concern this divisive crap.

I keep hoping that we are just going thru the growing pains that often accompany large technological advances in human society. As with the industrial revolution's move from a mostly agrarian society to a more technological model; we seem to be struggling with the democratization of near universal instant communication. Perhaps following generations will look back at these times as transitional.

(I meant to add "shingles" vax) I probably should get that vax sometime in the nearer future. While the odds are very small, from what I've heard you do NOT want to get shingles. The vax basically eliminates that threat (however small it may be).

Good to hear. One shot and done. (wait a month after) Then you can go to a pub and not worry about the guy sitting next to you sneezing..  :p

So, a lot of vaccine trials (vaccines approved and in use now) used like 5,000 participants for each trial. They are safe and effective. Compare that to Moderna trials (37,000 participants) and Pfizer (43,000 participants).

And the claims you see "alters your body's DNA!" is bogus. No science behind that. Just garbage info you see on social media.

It may not alter the body's DNA but it does introduce a protein that is unknown to the body. What happens in a couple years with the introduced protein? Does the body attack the protein? Does the protein attack the body? Does the protein merge and mutate with other proteins? If so, what will they mutate into? This is why you need multi year trials.

Well, if after I get the vaccine I mutate, hopefully I get some cool mutant skills...
