1984 and Rules for Radicals aren't novels, they are how to manuals.

But voters, like their congressional counterparts don't read. The unelected policy wonks just continue to put crazy plan a out there, back off 10%, then full send plan b.

Quote from: Del. on June 04, 2025, 01:00 PMWhat happens is every politician wants their share of spending for their projects to secure a yes vote for passage.

Their plan is to make up the difference in growth and tariff tax.

The problem with the tariff tax is that it's a regressive tax. They're moving the tax bourdon to the middle and lower class while giving themselves a tax break.

And the growth isn't guaranteed. Especially when your tariff policy so far has been insane.

I read an article today saying that we haven't felt the full effect of the current tariffs because the threat put businesses in to defense and they stocked up when they had the chance. Once those stocks run out, we'll start to see prices rise.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't feel like we're winning right now.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Del.

His goal is zero tariffs. I wouldn't count him out on his tariff strategy yet. It's not the incoming revenue I'm concerned about. It's the money going out we don't have.

That depends on which day you talk to Trump. Remember when the goal of the tariffs was to move manufacturing back to the US? That won't happen with zero tariffs. It's not going to happen anyway. At least not in any meaningful way.

It all just sucks.  I thought we could move the needle in the right direction. From what I've seen There is no future President that can make any real difference.

We're not gonna get any of these cuts signed into law and spending budgets will increase.

The only thing that may be better under Trump is he will keep us outta new wars.  The goofballs won't see it this way.

Okay, I'm going back to questionable Meme's, no point in worrying about something we Cannot change.

It's hard to understand why both parties don't want to reverse the debt. The stock market would go crazy if debt was reduced.

Truth is, both parties don't control it so can't do much about it.
And when you're the Fed or BoE or Japan etc, there always will be more money ie any country who prints their own money, can always print more.
That gives them (the owners) more money.
That gives us, less (value) money.
Fractional reserve banking is the game - printing more daily and  g r a d u a l l y  reducing the value, is also the game.

Lutnick, who's one of Trumps advisors on these tariffs, apparently disagrees with the goal of zero tariffs.

If Trump walked on water, you criticize his gate.

This very stable genius attain the highest office in the world. The first time he ever tried to run for Office. At the same time gave half of the country a derangement syndrome of their own creation. And it's beautiful to watch. 🍿🍿🍿

I've said on this forum that if he governed the way he said he would in his interview with David Sacks, I would be pleasantly surprised. I'd probably still give him shit for his dumb tweets, but my comments would be less about policy complaints and more about Trump being Trump.

Ref finance, funding, loans, donations, washing, philanthropy, yada yada.... remember the Greek debt crisis in 2009 when they had a gun to their head and "had to take the finance"?
Former Greek Finance Minister Yiannis Varoufakis in his book explained how the EU finance worked - "you can't negotiate your debt repayment with a lender that doesn't actually want its money back - the money was irrelevant as what was important was the EU maintaining power and control...."
