Quote from: neurosis on June 06, 2025, 09:53 AMBut we're not just tariffing (is that a word?) Chinese steel.

His tariffs aren't targeted. They're a mess of tariffs against everyone (except the UK in this case) to use as leverage.

Lutnicks argument when he was going back and for with Kennedy is ridiculous. If they really *only* cared about good being passed through Vietnam from China, they could target those products. That's not what they're doing.

As a side question, isn't passing products through a 3rd country to avoid tariffs illegal? I know Countries get away with it.

You seem content with the status quo. I don't understand you at all.

You're content with what's going on right now?

I figured that the Dems would have won you back when the Republican introduced the bill to make marijuana illegal nationally. If that passes, you'll be a criminal?

We keep hearing how the tariffs are going to drive inflation through the roof

https://www.bls.gov/cpi/

QuoteIn May, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.1 percent, seasonally adjusted, and rose 2.4 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.1 percent in May (SA); up 2.8 percent over the year (NSA).

keep in mind that the Fed's target rate of inflation is 2%.

My company is still working through inventory that was stockpiled at lower tarriff cost, as is many others. Wait for it, it's coming. Feel free to invest like it's not though.

fair enough. I am curious, what is the timeline when you run out of the cheaper inventory. I know every company\industry is different but that might be a good measurement of when the inflation would hit, across the board.

Tyler, I was wondering if you guys have a supply of vintage wood that you use for the high end models.

We use lots of steel forgings here.
We used to get them from a foundry in Mississippi, but they shut down.
Now they come from Canada. They are supplied by our customer and so far the tariffs have had no impact
on our business.
Time will tell.
If they get expensive enough, maybe the Mississippi foundry will open back up?

I suppose, in that context, it depends on his particular proclivities.  ;)

The problem with vintage wood is that it's usually soft wood. :crybaby:

I don't have full insight to our supply chain but 2-3 months from now
