It was removed mostly due to the pushback from anti-vax groups. It was causing people to not get their children vaccinated. I don't know that removing it helped in that respect. Anti-vaxers are going to anti-vax. If it's not thiomersal, it's going to be something else.

I drank Castrol A747 once....gulped and swallowed the first full mouthful and gulped and spat out the 2nd, when i realised that my bottle of juice, had been emptied by a mate, and he'd used the bottle to mix fuel.

They live in a very rural area and I believe they home school their children. Both generations.
