Quote from: YoDoug on August 07, 2025, 03:22 PMIgnorance is bliss. Right now Toyota and Honda need to build cars. Right now they need more humans to do that. In the coming years those humans will be replaced by robots and AI. Once upon a time manual machinist said those fancy NC machines won't be able to do my job. Unless you have been using AI for a bit and have personally seen how fast it is progressing, it is hard to comprehend. However it is real and it is progressing at a crazy rate. When Toyota can use AI and robots and not have to buy all those houses to house employees, do you think they still will out of the goodness of their corporate heart?

If? Whats? and Butts?.

You sound like someone I know.

But Trump!!

If your kids are heading into a field soon to be swallowed??

Why are you guiding them there? :o

Oh shit. You got likes from the forum deplorables. Reverse course now. It's your last chance to save face.  You're going to risk losing this year's Jr high school popularity contest! :D

https://www.therobotreport.com/hyundai-purchase-tens-of-thousands-boston-dynamics-robots/

Hyundai bought Boston Dynamics in 2021/2022 as well, so the fastest growing budget automaker owns and controls the means of robot production, and is sharing knowledge with the other autos as well, namely Toyota. These all electric variants of the robots instead of hydraulic are a massive game changer for cost and complexity too. It's going to be extremely disruptive, and this is next year or the year after, that's not pie in the sky or "ifs and whats"

Also how many jobs can you think of that check the boxes for these abilities:

Quote from: SuperHoneyBadger on August 08, 2025, 07:52 AMHere's a funny one too. The penultimate outsourcerers have been themselves outsourced:

I think I would often do better talking to an AI operator as opposed to a call center in India.

As I have stated before, I think the biggest misunderstanding of AI is the timeline. We grew up with futuristic movies with AI and robots, but it always seemed so far away. Moore's law applies to AI as well. In the last couple years AI and robotics have made more progress than they have over the last few decades. The AI that can guide robots to seamlessly replace human workers and AI that can replace most jobs is not 50 years away. It's a lot closer than people think.

If you ask the CEO of Nvidia, he says that Moore's Law is dead.
I have nothing to add if he's right or not, that's way above my head lol.

I remember hearing that they were out-pacing it. I wonder what he meant by "dead".
