They are very similar vaccines. Only difference is the base virus they use.

6 issues out of 7 million doses administered.  That's not even newsworthy.  Figuring out what correlation those 6 cases have to each other is definitely worth doing, but there's zero reason for news about it.

I think they both use a modified virus from a Monkey??

Yes. It needed to be a novel virus. One that our human immune system has never been exposed to before.

J&J used Adenovirus 26, AstraZeneca used ChAdOx1. Both adenovirus viruses are found in primates but not humans.

Know what you mean. But, it got out (news). Now FDA & CDC rec pausing it. 6 issues and all women. Rare clots, so the probability becomes greater that the J&J vac likely caused it. They want to do a crash course on how the best treat these rare clots. I don't see them pausing the J&J vac for very long. Maybe a day or two tops. What this could do is scare off some people. They read the headlines and... (while in reality it's a non story...6 cases in 7 million? Come on, move on)

How it is even possible to isolate 1 in 1,000,000?
I do wonder...how many people out of 7 million have some sort of harsh, adverse reaction to something like the flu vaccine. I would bet good money its more than 6.

I'm sure it's well over 6. I have seen estimates of 40X that number. Still not a big number when the denominator is in the millions.

I think the concern is that in Europe, where they gave a lot of the AstraZeneca vaccine, this same condition has popped up a little too often. Since they are very similar vaccines, this could be an issue related to that particular "class" of vaccines.

in particular I found this very interesting
QuoteBy comparison, four women out of 10,000 would get a blood clot from taking oral contraception.

I've known a few women who's bodies didn't get along with birth control. 4 out of 10,000...and its ok. 6 out of 7,000,000 tho???

UNACCEPTABLE!!!  :p

But,... since its a rare form of clot they can isolate the cause to the J&J vac. With those %'s, though (1 in a million and all female) - this should move along very quickly (i.e. start up/resume the J&J vacs)

^ My 2nd Pfizer shot, jokingly asked the guy if there was a needle on it. Weird. Did not feel anything. At all. Arm was sore as a mother later that day, though. Warm shower next day and felt a lot better. Couple days later very mild.

If your arm gets sore, it recommended using it a lot. The more you move it the better (and faster) it feels.

What is the death rate of Covid before vaccinations? It will be interesting to see the comparison.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/">https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ (check here) Vaccines relatively recent so you'll get a good approximation. So, at the top it shows appr. 2% deaths worldwide. Scroll down to see individual countries.

If you see Israel, which is over 50% vaccinated using the Pfizer vaccine - it tells a story. Vaccines work. Daily tally of cases: +34. Death: +1
