Police said the 71-year-old man initially detained after Charlie Kirk's assassination admitted he falsely claimed responsibility in an effort to draw attention away from the real shooter.

Right after Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University, George Zinn told police he was the gunman and demanded they shoot him, according to court documents. Investigators later determined that Zinn did not shoot Kirk, but charged him with second-degree obstruction of justice.

In an affidavit filed on Monday, a police officer said that Zinn approached police and yelled, "I shot him, now shoot me," after the Kirk shooting, according to Fox 13 Salt Lake City. "I then started to escort George to a patrol car that was at the back of the venue. He continued to state that he shot the individual and to just shoot him," a police officer said.

Zinn later admitted he made the false confession "to draw attention from the real shooter" and said he "wanted to be a martyr for the person who was shot," according to the affidavit.

I think that his murder was about as senseless as it gets already. I've seen a lot of right wing extremist influencers that I would have expected to get far more hate than Kirk. Milo Yiannopoulos comes to mind. Or more currently, Andrew Tate.

Tate is a self-proclaimed misogynist who is wanted for sexual assault in the UK, and says shit like "women belong to men". He's also a Palestine supporter, which doesn't reflect the views of the current administration.

What can be said about Milo that hasn't already been said.    He's a flamboyantly gay conservative who says shit like "pedophilia does not apply to those attracted to 13-year-olds who are sexually mature".

I guess that puts a whole new meaning to "getting it good and hard" huh?

I looked up Piker and the first thing that came up was a statement on Kirks death. He sounded very empathetic. I was expecting something different.

Destiny, on the other hand, was mocking Kirks wife almost immediately. Destiny is the real version of every stereotype I've seen posted about the left in this thread. 

If I see anything from Piker that looks interesting, I'll have to check it out.

If anyone wants a more in-depth analysis of how our media work, check out "Manufacturing Consent." I saw the movie when it came out in 1988 (correction: book came out in 1988, and the movie came out in 1992) and found it very interesting (warning: this is probably not a good "date night" movie), as it addressed a number of things I'd just sorta been pondering on my own. I bought the book but limped through the first couple of chapters before stalling out!
