I'm not an anti-vaxxer but I'm not going to lie.  I'm a little nervous about a vaccine that has only been tested for a short time.

When this thing becomes available to the general public will you trust it?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

No Vax for me until it's been out long enough to prove itself... Then Maybe

I will be taking a wait and see approach myself.
This morning the State of Cali wanted to install a CV-19 app on my phone
It would keep me informed of infections in my area, warn me if the app thought I had been
in contact with infected people and advise me what to do.
The government, both State and Federal have squandered all trust and credibility with me.
I would no more trust them now than I'd trust a junkie with the keys to a drug store.
It doesn't take much imagination to see the app sending state storm troopers to drag people off to forced quarantine,
or forbidding you to go to work
No CV-19 app for me !!!!!

Much like the flu vaccine I will most likely skip this one as well...

Funny story about the vaccine. We have had Covid in our house first hand. 2 out of 5 of us tested positive and the others all had symptoms, but never tested positive. According to popular consensus we should have antibodies for 90 days. We are also being told we should still get the vaccine. By no means do I consider myself a biologist, but if the purpose of a vaccine is to give you a small amount of the virus so your body can develop immune system response to it, then wouldn't getting Covid do the same. It's like they are talking out of both sides of their mouths on this one. Unless they are going to tell us later next year that the vaccine is only temporary and you need to keep taking it yearly, like the flu vaccine.

No, we won't be taking the vaccine.

That's gonna be a HARD "no f'n way".

No app.

No Vax.

Period end of story, end of discussion. THIS is the hill I'm ready to proverbially die on. Enough is enough. The government has run the trust well bone dry. If the told me the sky was blue, I poking my head outside to check their lying theiving asses.

Yup.
Unless my employer tries to force the issue, I'm out.
If they do push the issue, I will decide if early retirement is an option.  ;)

I volunteered, unsuccessfully I might add, to be in the Astra Zenica trial. So yes, I will take the vaccine when it becomes available.

My guess is they will be busy giving it to seniors and first responders for the first 3-4 months.  I think I will wait to see if anyone has a bad reaction to it first before deciding.

I'll pass this year.

Sort of like the first year of a new automobile... never buy... let them work out all of the bugs first.

By the time I'm able to get it it'll be pretty well proven (or otherwise) so I'll make my decision then.

Thats not how the Covid vaccines work. These are a new technology never before used widely called mRNA. It teaches the body to create a protein in the body that triggers an immune response. So in theory it is longer lasting than antibodies.

Will I be getting it? Depends how forceful my wife is....

I read somewhere that in order to obtain herd immunity, appr. 70% of the population would need to get vaccinated. This applies to the U.S. and I would surmise the world.

We need to get this Virus under control.

Are you glad you got the polio, smallpox, and measles vaccines?

Sure, there are always risks. Calculated risks.

I'll take my chances. The sooner a majority of the population gets the vaccine, the sooner we can go back to living a normal life. Empty stadiums suck! Many living in fear (not fun).

I think the benefits FAR outweigh the risks.
