Guys that are 6 foot tall and weigh 175lbs are considered obese by the BMI aren't they?

Agree, was just trying to point out that people making poor decisions leads to poor outcomes no matter what the circumstances are.

Didn't they ban firearms in Australia?

Quote from: ghuns on September 06, 2024, 06:24 AMAll states have involuntary manslaughter and/or criminally negligent homicide laws.

I don't know exactly what they are in Georgia, but google says...

Involuntary manslaughter means the defendant did not intend to kill the victim, but their actions or negligence resulted in the death.

Criminally negligent homicide is when the defendant committed an act of criminal negligence that resulted in the death of another person. Criminal negligence is more than just ordinary carelessness, inattention, or a mistake in judgment.

I'm not a lawyer but it seems those charges would be more applicable to the guy who pulled the trigger but maybe in a case like this they can do it.

If securing your rifles was a law they could maybe tie that in with the criminal negligent homicide.

But once again, I'm not a lawyer, maybe they can use all those charges against him.

Father lied when he said son didn't have access to guns and they weren't loaded. I'm guessing they are using that against him.

You don't have to be the trigger puller. If your actions or negligence lead to someone's death, you can be charged.

This is how owners of vicious dogs that kill people are charged.

A vicious dog, or your kid with a gun, are your responsibility to control.

We're having an epidemic of child crimes in the Seattle Tacoma area.  Apparently, kids have to get caught with a firearm 5 times before any real consequences are handed down.

Quote"Prosecutors charge juveniles for unlawful gun possession even on a first offense," he says. "It's not that prosecutors don't charge them, it's that the penalty for convictions under state law are limited. The way state lawmakers have written the law, the first four convictions have a maximum of 30 days in local detention and the fifth conviction brings detention at a state facility." He says King County Prosecutor Leesa Manion views this as "a problem," and it's something she's trying to fix with state lawmakers.

I'd be happy if they went straight for the parents in these cases.  I don't even care where the firearms came from. The parents are letting these kids run rampant with no supervision and they're committing armed robberies, random shootings, etc.  If you're going to make the decision to have a bunch of fuck trophies running around, take care of them.  They're YOUR responsibility.

I's this a round about way of making the case for abortion?   :D  Sorry, bad joke.

I don't disagree with you, but then what happens when they announce they will be prosecuting the shooter as an adult?

It only gets more confusing when we try to have it both ways.

Sounds like you need different lawmakers...

I think they had a mass shooting in Tassmania 10-15 years ago (??)

They banned and confiscated or bought back all semiautomatic rifles

When these laws were written, it was unheard of to have a child bring a gun to school, or anywhere else.  Now, it's so easy to get a gun and the culture around guns have changed so much, that the laws need to be re-written.

With the way current politics are, it's nearly impossible to get anything done.
