Quote from: Jeff on November 10, 2025, 03:29 AMI hear a lot of grumblings about putting in a backup QB with the punter's number and faking a punt.
It's totally a legal play. The official roster was updated, Official crew knew. Opposing coaching staff just wasn't paying attention and got caught flatfooted. After all, football is often a game of deception.

Maybe. But it is a dirty play.

"Both Huard and Johnson were listed with No. 80 on USC's game-day roster, but Huard appears as No. 7 on the team's online roster and in the game notes for the Northwestern contest. "

Speaking of Penn State, where has our local PSU fan been? Jim @ Gentex.

Not dirty. 100% legal. Online rosters don't mean jack. Game day roster is what matters. Somebody on Northwestern's coaching staff wasn't paying attention. That's the heart of the matter. It's uncomfortable. It's embarrassing,  but at the end of the day, the rules were followed to the letter.

Reminds me of a time I was the Business Manager of an All-Star Baseball Team. The job is a glorified admin AND to know the rules better than anyone on the field of play. It was PONY Baseball, so aside from equipment, and a few procedural items we follow MLB Rules. Travel Ball and MLB have a few different rule differences some to help speed up play (pinch runners for pitchers and catchers are allowed, etc...) which are NOT allowed in MLB. Anyway, the opposing team pulled their pitcher for a pinch runner in the 2nd ininning. I caught it. I warned my manager that there was about to be a manager and a player ejected, by MLB rule. According tonthe rule, the pitcher once pulled cannot return to the mound. So, even though he was lifted for a runner,  he became ineligible to return to the mound. By rule it is cause for ejection. We waited for the the pitcher to throw a pitch, called time, brought it to the empire's attention. Boom. Two ejections. An unwitting player :( and a manager : rofl:

Moral of the story, pay attention and know the rules so you don't get burned.

Okay, the college FB playoff committee will voice their stupid opinions an hour from now.  Lets see who gets their feelings hurt.

I expect to NOT be in the Playoffs. Had we defeated Notre Lame, I think I could make an argument. At this moment? Nah. I don't think we're deserving. Still barely a Top 20 Team IMHO.

And Michigan needs to win out in order to be considered.
Unless something drastic happens and some teams lose their remaining games for some reason but I have a hunch that Bama isn't losing to Eastern Illinois this next Saturday.
What a crock of shit that they get away with that type of schedule.

The NCAA has vacated 14 Michigan State wins from the 2022-2024 seasons due to the participation of 3 ineligible players.
Johnathan Smith now has 0 Big Ten wins thanks to the Mel Tucker era.

I wonder if they're gonna file a lawsuit for that $80 million they owe Tuck.

I heard the NCAA considered a post-season ban but then realized how unnecessary that would be.

New Mexico (cupcake)
Oklahoma - Ya'll Lost
Central Mich (cupcake)
Nebraska (decent)
Wisconsin (decent)
USC - Beat down
Washington (decent)

Yes let's do that.

FSU
UL Monroe
Wisconsin
Georgia
Vandy
Mizzou
Tennessee
South Carolina
LSU
Oklahoma
EASTERN ILLINOIS
Auburn

Did I get that right?
It's not the team that I'm talking about it's WHEN they play the cupcake non-conference game, that should not be allowed.

Well, it's obviously not JUST an Alabama problem.

in the same week:

GA        vs   Charleston S.
LSU       vs   W. Kentucky
Ole Miss   -   Bye
Texas A&M vs   Samford
Aub       vs   Mercer
