QuoteCornyn denied Wednesday that he shifted his position on the filibuster to win Trump's endorsement, telling NBC News: "I would say that's not true."
Quote"After careful consideration, I support whatever changes to Senate rules that may prove necessary for us to get the SAVE America Act and homeland security funding past the Democrats' obstruction, through the Senate, and on the president's desk for his signature," Cornyn wrote in his op-ed.
QuoteBut when Democrats floated changes to the filibuster in the past, Cornyn strenuously defended the 60-vote threshold, like in early 2022 when Democrats sought to pierce the filibuster to pass their own election overhaul bill, called the Freedom to Vote Act.
"Power is fleeting, and at some point the shoe will always be on the other foot," Cornyn said at the time, in January 2022. "Liberal activists may like the idea of nuking the filibuster today, but they'll soon find themselves ruing the day their party broke the Senate."
He said in another speech that same month, "Not only are our colleagues trying to seize the authority given under the Constitution to the states to manage their own elections, they're willing to take a wrecking ball to the United States Senate itself and, particularly, the Senate rules."
And he defended it on Fox News in 2022. "That's what the filibuster does. It requires us to work together," Cornyn said.
Careful consideration indeed.  Another Rebug taking a principled stand.
Nah, he's grabbin' his ankles - just another sheep drumpf is pushing up against the fence.

Where's that puke emoji?!?

The SAVE act would be the most important piece of legislation to pass in a LONG time.  I thought verifying citizenship to vote would be a bi-partisan thumbs up, guess not?

What do you guys make of this?

QuoteA new federal rule is forcing many U.S. libraries to stop providing passport services, as it restricts these services to government-only locations. This change impacts convenience and accessibility, especially in rural areas, forcing residents to use courthouses or post offices. The Marysville Rye Library, for instance, ended its services on February 11, 2026, after serving the community since 2008.

Key Details on the Shift:
Reason for Closure: A federal policy update prohibits passport services at non-governmental locations, such as many nonprofits and libraries, which took effect in early 2026.
Impact on Access: Residents in areas with library services will have to travel farther, often to county courthouses or, in some cases, post offices.
Affected Services: Libraries that were convenient, local options for processing passport applications are closing down these specific services.
Consequences: Reduced access to services, particularly impacting rural communities that relied on local library locations.

About the same thing I thought about this during the 2020 election. That Republicans only care about election interference when it's the other side doing it.

The White House says USPS isn't removing mail-sorting machines. Postal workers say it is.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

As has been pointed out multiple times, the rate of non-citizen voting is less than the piss of a pregnant woman sneezing.  Not nothing, but comically insignificant.

I'm not sure about that (the pregnant woman part). Or, it could be that my wife had an extremely large and sensitive bladder.

Yes, you've shown your data from like Arkansas or Iowa etc.
Still waiting for some real data on CA, NY, Min, AZ.

I gave some stats from Texas.  It's a border state and red enough I thought there was a chance you'd believe their audit.

This is from Michigan:  https://www.npr.org/2025/07/30/nx-s1-5462836/noncitizen-voting-trump-ceir-review
QuoteMichigan officials announced in April that a review found that "cases of noncitizens casting a ballot in Michigan elections are extremely rare." The review found more than a dozen noncitizens appear to have illegally voted in the 2024 general election. That's 0.00028% of the state's total votes.
In the quote there is a link to https://www.michigan.gov/sos/resources/news/2025/04/03/michigan-department-of-state-review-confirms-instances-of-noncitizen-voting-are-extremely-rare
Quote15 credible cases identified – 0.00028% of more than 5.7 million total ballots cast in 2024 General Election

I don't know what fear factory has set your heart ablaze on this issue, but it is a virtually non-existent problem.

Well of course fox, but he has previously claimed he doesn't partake msm.  Must be repeaters on fb.  Or some crazy uncle regurgitating fox to him.  Definitely not some crazy fox regurgitating his uncle - that would actually be scary!

Isn't this the case of there's already laws saying you need to be a citizen? Why new laws needed? I thought republicans were all about enforcing what's already there
