Well that too, is now BS (although I'm linking BBC here so whether 2x negatives make a positive???)

Oh No No No!! The American media has already reported he was killed in a dogfight.

They wouldn't lie would they??

Links are hard to find but it looks like the Russians lost another missile cruiser in the Black Sea last night.
+
some genius in the Biden Admin told the NYT that the US/NATO was supplying Ukraine with real time battle field intelligence which has enabled Ukraine to hit these ships as well as accurately target Russian generals with artillery strikes. Hopefully this does not goad Russia into attacking NATO.

It has been a shock to find out just how bad the Russians are at modern warfare.
They are fighting this war like it was World War 2.
If western casualty estimates are to be believed, the Russians have lost 25 thousand men, over  one thousand tanks and 12 generals in 9 weeks

I checked the stats on RT, the russian news is also reporting heavy losses including over a hundred planes and helicopters.

Their war goal is to de-militarize ukraine by destroying their military assets. 50% of ukraines assets have been destroyed, Russia's losses, while heavy, don't account for any significan portion of their fighting force. Hopefully this all ends soon..

Can anyone confirm or deny anything said in this video?  Not sure where it came from.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Russia has many problems
Poor to nonexistent maintenance, 30 year old Chinese tires for example
Communication gear three generations out of date.Shot down helicopters have been found
With commercial GPS gear duct taped to the control panel.
Their armored vehicles are death traps. The autoloading cannon eliminates the 4th crewman
yielding a much smaller silhouette, but puts 30 to 40 high explosive shellls inside the crew compartment. Even a minor pentration of the turret puts the turret into orbit
and vaporizes the crew.
Very poorly trained unwilling conscripts are fighting well trained highly motivated troops.
Top down highly regimented organizational structure means senior NCOs and local commanders
are unable to make decisions when things go bad.
Russian losses are estimated to 30k+ killed and 1k+ tanks lost in 75days.
This week the Russian sent an entire armoured battalion to force a river crossing
It did not go well

Saw a report their fighter jets have the same.

Quote from: Newbeeee™ on May 13, 2022, 01:05 AMAnd why are all the "leaders" (oxymoron) still visiting into "war torn Kiev".....BoZo,Pelosi,Trudi,vonDerLayen etc etc etc???
When there's still not a crater, bullet hole in a wall, or a window blown out in the "war torn centre"?

The Russians never got to the city center. There was no ground combat in Kiev
and I'm sure the Russian wemt to great lengths to avoid air and missile strikes in Embassy Row.
Killing a building full of diplomats is the last thing they want.

also
Everyone is stunned at how poorly the Russians have done but they are far from "on their knees"
Putin has made it clear he wants to recreate the USSR. He has annexed Orange, Crimea 3 eastern provinces
of Ukraine and is now making a play for the rest.
In the cold hard calculus of world politics, Russia needs diminishing and it is far better to do it with
American money and Ukrainian lives, than American money and American lives, especially when the Ukrainians
are more than happy to do it

If Russia is so shit, why does Creepy want to "donate" 33Billion?

If Russia was what everyone thought it was two months ago, it would have rolled over Ukraine like the US and Saddam Hussein.  Little old Ukraine, aided in no small part by civilian volunteers with rifles, stopped Russia in her tracks.  Pushing her back out is more difficult, as Putin will never back down.

I keep reading reports that he is suffering from terminal cancer. He can't die too soon as far as I'm concerned.

One of the reasons Ukraine is doing so well is artillery, more specifically target spotting.

Ukraine and Russia have been fighting in Eastern Ukraine since 2014.

Ukraine has always been the tech hub of the USSR and after Russia invaded in 2014, the propeller heads went to work.

They have developed software, when paired up with drones that can identify and hit targets in under a minute from the
time a drone spots them. Paired with Musk's Starlink system they have an unjammable, world class battle management system.
The modern artillery  systems being delivered by NATO are far more accurate than Russia's and have longer range.
In short, Ukrainian counter battery fire can destroy Russian artillery within minutes of Russia's first shot
and Russia artillery can't return the favor.

On May 9 a Russian battalion tried to force a river crossing in North East Ukraine. Ukrainian artillery fire
utterly destroyed them. It is estimated the Russians lost 75 armored vehicles and 500+ men.
There were 2 other river crossings than met a similar fate on a smaller scale.

Their armored vehicles are getting crushed on the regular. There used to be this air of invincibility when inside APC's, tanks, etc... now they are death traps and if the propaganda/intelligence is to be believed soldiers are even afraid to get in them because tey are seen as certain death.

The jack in the box feature built into Russian armored vehicles has been well known since at least the 1973 Arab Israeli war. It only demonstrates the utter disregard the Communist regime has for the men it sends to war.
Russian armored vehicles use autoloaders for their cannon.
This places the ammunition inside the crew compartment.
Even a minor hull penetration detonates the ammunition load, which launches the turret into low earth orbit and vaporizes the crew

That's jacked up.

I suppose that's a feature not a bug? :O

Its a byproduct to the decision to keep a low silhouette.
The autoloader means you only need a 3 man crew and can make the turret much smaller
If you set a T72 or T80 next to an M1A1 the difference is size is striking

A low silhouette is a very good thing in conventional tank vs tank warfare.
When the enemy is hunting you with drones, artillery and top attack missiles, not so much
