Quote from: mkd on July 18, 2022, 09:03 AM4chan really pisses them off, which is why they are paying MSM to paint the website as the boogeyman.

I haven't watched the MSM since I dropped cable several months ago. I haven't heard a lot about what they think of 4chan. I do know quite a few people who spend a lot of time on 4chan to feed their conspiracy addictions.

There was a Seattle man back in around 2019; he got so tied up in Qanon that he ended up killed his brother because he thought he was a lizard. If I had to guess, that's the kind of stuff that makes most people leery of 4chan.

I think that some cynicism is healthy. I think there is probably a point that it's just not healthy anymore.

QuoteSelf-Described Proud Boy, QAnon Believer Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Brother With Sword

A 26-year-old Seattle man who described himself online as both a member of the far-right Proud Boys group and a believer in the sprawling QAnon conspiracy theory, Buckey Wolfe, is in custody after allegedly stabbing his brother in the head with a sword on Sunday, the Seattle Times reported.

Prosecutors say Wolfe stabbed his brother with the four-foot-long sword while he was hallucinating and believed the latter was a lizard posing as a human, something that local station KIRO 7 reported he later believed of detectives investigating the case. The Times wrote that court and jail documents show authorities are attempting to hold Wolfe without bail, saying he poses an extreme danger to the community:

Or, we could just go with the people who buy in to the Qanon conspiracies aren't nuts, they just aren't being treated fairly by the MSM.

The article says he was hallucinating. Do Qanon conspiracies cause hallucinations? Or was it (likely) drugs that caused him to to hallucinate and kill his brother? Yet you tie it Qanon.

I like that approach, Tom. Helps us comprehend the magnitude of a quantity. Even helps mathematicians. Like stacking $1 bills on top of one another. When we get into larger numbers the 'stack' goes past the moon and beyond..

I tied the story of a guy who went insane to the MSM's coverage of 4chan. Sure, this is an extreme example, but 1) the MSM wouldn't even care about 4chan if it weren't for qanon, and 2) most people who buy in to the qanon conspiracies are a little off their rocker.  If someone is willing to believe that John F. Kennedy, Jr. is coming back to be Trumps vice president, and are willing throw your life away (if you had one to begin with) to travel to Texas and await his return,  you might just be nuts. The guy who drove the gut truck that 'used' to stop at our shop every day was one of those guys.  He no longer has a job.

I wasn't screwing with you. I only read the little snippet you posted, but I still don't see how you link a guy who was hallucinating to Qanon.

I know that you weren't.  I didn't link the guy to qanon, the article did. It's wakos like that who brought attention to qanon and 4chan in the first place.  That was the point I was trying to make.

I assume that this guy wasn't just in to qanon conspiracies. It sounds like he was one of the Illuminati lizard people guys as well.   edit: to add - some of the articles written about this guy also tied the Illuminati beliefs to qanon.

Not to keep going down this rabbit hole, but here is another example of what I'm talking about. I won't try to explain this one myself. I don't do well putting thought to paper.   :help:

A California Father Claims QAnon Conspiracy Led Him To Kill His 2 Children, FBI Says

QuoteA California father took his two young children to Mexico and killed them with a spearfishing gun after he claimed he had been "enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories," federal authorities say.

According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in California, Matthew Taylor Coleman reportedly told investigators he had been "receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife possessed serpent DNA and had passed it onto his children" and that by killing them he was "saving the world from monsters."

QAnon is a conspiracy popular among some on the far right that claims Democratic politicians operate a cabal that kidnaps and tortures children, using their blood in satanic rituals.

Quote from: neurosis on July 20, 2022, 08:22 AMI didn't link the guy to qanon, the article did.

Again, the article said that he was hallucinating and killed his brother. Whether he was a Qanon guy or not, it has nothing to do with what happened. That's the classic bullshit MSM crap of pointing out things like...

"Joe Blow, a Trump supporter, drove through a stop sign and killed a family of four." Being a Trump supporter has nothing to do with how the guy was driving, but they always have to mention it.

Quote from: neurosis on July 20, 2022, 08:22 AMhe got so tied up in Qanon that he ended up killed his brother because he thought he was a lizard.

As if he was under some spell of Qanon that made him do it. That's the same bullshit as I mentioned above.

I can't believe I spent this much time on this. I don't give a rat's ass about Qanon, who they are or what they believe.

I can't believe that I've spent so much time on this. I was only trying to point out the connection between the MSM's criticism of 4chan and it's link to qanon and it's followers. I thought that was a good example of that. If the story had been about a guy delivering flowers, and flower delivery was a common qanon belief, nobody would give a shit.

The *only* reason I give any fuck what so ever about qanon, is that these nut jobs are allowed to vote. As shown in the second article I posted, this has happened more than once. The 'lizard people' idea came from somewhere and is a conspiracy shared by qanon followers.

Is it too early for a cocktail?
