How Silicon Valley destroyed Paler

https://greenwald.substack.com/p/how-silicon-valley-in-a-show-of-monopolistic">//https://greenwald.substack.com/p/how-silicon-valley-in-a-show-of-monopolistic

QuoteOver the last year, Parler encountered immense success. Millions of people who objected to increasing repression of speech on the largest platforms or who had themselves been banned signed up for the new social media company.

As Silicon Valley censorship radically escalated over the past several months — banning pre-election reporting by The New York Post about the Biden family, denouncing and deleting multiple posts from the U.S. President and then terminating his access altogether, mass-removal of right-wing accounts — so many people migrated to Parler that it was catapulted to the number one spot on the list of most-downloaded apps on the Apple Play Store, the sole and exclusive means which iPhone users have to download apps. "Overall, the app was the 10th most downloaded social media app in 2020 with 8.1 million new installs," reported TechCrunch.

It looked as if Parler had proven critics of Silicon Valley monopolistic power wrong. Their success showed that it was possible after all to create a new social media platform to compete with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And they did so by doing exactly what Silicon Valley defenders long insisted should be done: if you don't like the rules imposed by tech giants, go create your own platform with different rules.

Let's not forget that the events that occurred on Jan 6th were predicated on a huge lie, which is 95% of the problem. If those on the right are unwilling or incapable of accepting the truth, then this country is doomed.

Sometimes, I'll post a link to an online "intro to journalism" class when responding to some of the most rabid truth deniers. This is meant as a joke, but only partly so. Being able to dissect and understand information is a skill that is seriously lacking in some people. Hint: Trump's definition of "fake news" is not actually what fake news is. But he has usurped the term to fit his own needs, and his followers aren't bright enough to realize that they have been duped. Hence, the severe disconnect between Trump voters and the truth.

Fact: Trump lost the election. Fact: There was no widespread voter fraud. Fact: The election wasn't stolen. Fact: The courts have confirmed this.

The sooner Trumpsters get this through their heads, the better off we will be as a nation.

The lie was that Biden won the election.

Fact: The Steele Dossier was proven to be bogus info. and yet Democrats relied on it anyway (after it was already deemed unreliable) to impeach the President.

Fact: Democrats kept insisting the protests were mainly peaceful while Americans watched buildings burn and stores vandalized and looted.

repeating a lie endlessly does not make it true
The courts have not confirmed anything has not one court has actually examined the presented evidence
They universally rejected the filed cases for technical reasons

You do realize that "rabid truth denier" and gcode are interchangeable, right?

When Trumps lawyers went into court instead of presenting evidence they started blathering conspiracy theories and got their asses kicked out and ridiculed.

Time after time after time.

Gcode, serious question: why don't you guys accept Bill Barr's assessment of the election??? He was a faithful conservative throughout his tenure as AG. He had the FBI look into election fraud and came away with the same answer as the courts: NO MASS ELECTION FRAUD.

Here's Johnny!

Why? Does it only count if you get the outcome you want? That's not justice. I'm tired of both sides making the DOJ their pawn for partisan retribution, sigh.. :spank:

Trumps lawyers showed up in Nevada with 40, 000 pages of evidence of dead voters, out of state voters
illegal alien voters, double voters, felon voters etc etc etc..
They had a PO box in Vegas with over 200 absentee voters living in it.
All of this was gleaned from public records.
The judge showed up with a prewritten denial.. The court hearing lasted 40 minutes.
