Ahoy!

Landed yesterday, here for three months.  Once I'm settled, I'll see who's nearby for a catch up.

:oldforumcheers:

Welcome to the USA and it would be great to meet up. If you head to Southern California which can be driven from Houston in 19 hours let us know.

I'm near Paris, north east of DFW.  Cold and miserable here lol.  I was sunning myself beside the pool the day before I left Oz.
So far the "Y'all" count is even higher than I expected haha

Texas doesn't get cold.  You should come up to Minnesota sometime, maybe in February.

Loving it here!
Some "fish out of water" observations/mild cultural ribbing:
•   Your bread tastes funny.
•   Your bacon isn't real bacon.
•   Your light switches are upside down, and your power outlets don't have switches.
•   You drive on the wrong side of the road.  So far it hasn't been a problem, but I am driving an old ute (truck) with a manual transmission and keep trying to wind the window down to change gear.  I also keep getting in the passenger side.  I have only had a couple of brain fades at intersection looking the wrong way, but have gone down the highway on the wrong side once.   ;D
•   Your banking system is 50 years out of date.  Cheques?!  Really?   ::)
•   Wearing thongs means something different here.   ;D

Despite my adjustment issues and sounding like I'm complaining, I'm loving it.  People are extremely nice and hospitable.  Food and fuel are cheap, and I don't have a SWAT team outside if I feel like some target practice in the back yard.  Now that the sun is finally out I can appreciate the scenery too.
My business partner could best be described as making Steve Irwin look and sound like a shy elocution tutor and makes a scene wherever we go, so maybe we are just the local novelty at the moment.  The novelty might wear off at some point!

I should have the workshop up and running this week.  Looking forward to visiting a proper Texan Bar for a few beers.  I might even take advantage of my "weird" accent and take a couple of barrel bunnies home  8)  8)

Cheers
Bruce
