They've been heavily debating this for the last couple of weeks.  Most of the information that is the loudest is from Republican voters/parents.

One of the comments I saw from legislators was something to the effect of "If your kid feels that they have to run away from home due to lack of support, or when they talk to their parents, the parents use terminology like "delusional" or "crazy" when having a discussion about gender dysphoria, those are the parents that we feel made this bill necessary.

There is definitely some hyperbole  being spread and it's really difficult to get any information that isn't polluted. I disagree with this, but I'd like to hear the sound reasoning behind it. So far, the only thing I've found is that they're trying to prevent suicides attempts for gender dysphoric teens (which is 1 in every 3) by giving them a positive outlet "after" they've already run away.

That is it in a nut shell. Are all parents perfect no. Are most parents perfect no. Are ther bad parents sorry to say there is. All that said people want us to believe the government have a better understanding of how to raise kids than parents? Crazy is what that is plain and simple.

The only situation that I can think of where the parent shouldn't be contacted or told the whereabouts of their child, is if there is evidence that there has been or is potential for abuse or worse.

I believe (don't quote me on this as it was hearsay) that they tried to add this stipulation to the bill and it would have had support from some local republicans but the Dems shot it down.
